  1.

    Gents,

I just removed a bunch of posts for a few reasons:

    1. Providing guidance to people on valid uses for Prepar3D is not permitted on AVSIM (a policy set by AVSIM), as people usually end up providing actionable guidance instead of simply information. The former is illegal, the latter is not, but usually ends up blurring the lines here in most discussions. (See legal advice versus legal information.)

    2. Pricing policy debates are not permitted here (a policy set by PMDG). I understand that this thread is specifically about pricing policy, but debating it - for or against - isn't really going to change things here, and usually devolves into some sort of argument that we'd prefer to avoid.

    3. Trolling or attacking people is not permitted (a policy set by AVSIM). I don't recall taking a post out for this in this thread, but I'm just reminding people. This also carries warning points, so you'd know if it was you.

The first would likely be avoided if we had a thread somewhere that indicated the differences between the different licenses, or at the very least a link to someplace that we could access that information.

  2. I would like to recommend a few suggestions on light usage. Most airlines seem to use the following.

Fixed Landing Light: On: When Entering a Runway, When Passing Through 18,000 MSL

Off When Passing Through 18,000 FT MSL

Retractable Landing Lights: On: When Entering a Runway, and when slowing below 250 KTS

Off: When Passing through 10,000 FT MSL

Runway Turnoff Lights:   On When Entering a Runway, When Descending Below 18,000 MSL at Night

Off: When Passing through 18,000 FT MSL

Logo and Wing Lights: On: At Night on ramp and Below 18,000 FT MSL

                                        Off: Above 18,000 MSL

Again these seem to be what most airlines use and 18,000 MSL seems standard, NOT 10,000 AGL

  3. Captains,

after a lot of contemplation, seeing how inferior my previous laptop was for simple entertainment purposes let alone, simming. I went ahead and bought a new laptop in the hope tht it would be a better buy than my previous laptop, here are the specs:

    i7-4702mq@2.20ghz upto 3.20ghz

    8gb ddr3 ram

2gb nvidia gt 740m graphics card

    8gb ssd

    1tb hard drive

    windows 8.1 :(

the laptop sounds very appealing, and it really is.But now running FSX i feel it is no better than my previous one,in some cases worse.I have installed fsx acceleration, and with the stalk aircraft at leipzig(aerosoft) my fps fluctuate from the mid twenties to low teens, horrendous and unplayable. Before i am jumped at i know windows 8/8.1 has a ton of issues,i am stuck with it at this moment.I have tweaked my fsx quite a lot, added some tweaks that should have made my experience better, but it hasnt. At this point i feel i have just wasted my money for a laptop that sounds good,i know some people will say the cpu speed isnt good enough so on and so forth, but i have also seen people with far lower specs.running fsx quite well( i was in that group),frankly this is disheartening. My goal was to install the PMDG 777,FTX, a few airports and AS2012, the same addons i had on my previous laptop, but with such perfomance,i really doudt if i shall ever do just that.I hope some experts can help me with this,i really do.

    Thanks a ton,

    Mahesh

That computer just won't ever get the job done. That processor is way to slow to run FSX well.

  4. Have you guys considered, that maybe... just maybe... Rob cannot give that announcement for the same reason he can't give the announced announcement?

By definition insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly expecting a different result. Every time we get a time frame for an announcement PMDG blows way past. It would be insane to think that not one member of the team can log and and say "Sorry we missed the window, will have more news in the future" That would be entirely appropriate at this point. This isn't about the -300ER for many people. SP1 is supposed to fix bugs that have been an issue since release for some users. At this point owners of the 777 should be told when they will be able to fly their $90 product.

  5. Unfortunately, the Carenado G1000 is weak and they do need to pump it up to at least the level of the F1 G1000 simulation which is old sim technology.

For this situation, I use the FSX Flight Planner to develop flight plans or like you indicated. A bitter pill to swallow for such a great LOOKING aircraft.

Sorry for the bad news :-)

    Cheers!

That's alirght. I guess I'll use pfpx to import sids and stars.
