  1. Just letting you know, im doing around the world in VATSIM starting tommorrow. Going to be flying the newish QW757, in the old Britannia Airways livery, and ive added a winglets on it to get maximum range, of round about 4100nm. Look out for me on Vroute, my callsign is going to be TOMBY757 My route is: EGCN-EGNE <<<My local airport going to peform a low flyby (Alpha Max) Then to EGLL2. EGLL-KLGA 3. KLGA -KLAX 4. KLAX-PHNL 5. PHNL-RJAA.7. VHHH-HECA 8. HECA-EGLL 9. EGLL-EGCC Will keep updated on the flight! There are a few changes in airports i need to make for the 757's range Cheers Wowk.

  2. Ive been flying on VATSIM for almost two years now. Yeah not a lot. Anyway when i first started VATSIM, i wanted to shoot in the default FS 737 make a silly call sign, and shoot to my favourate airport. But when i logged on it was much different than i though. Everything was like the real world, and everybody was very serious. I can remember it took me 20 minutes before i said a word to the controller as i was that scared to say something. After a year flying the default FS737, i moved on and bought myself the CS757. I hated it, i couldnt start the engines and i didn't know how to put in a route, not like the easy FS file a flight plan. So one night i was coming into LEPA, and there was a guy on the tramac in a 767. He had only just bought the LEVEL D 767-300, and didn't have a clue. He asked me for help and with in 2 or 3 hours he was flying the LEVEL D, because i told him what to do step by step. So after then, i started to think what if i set my own website up for VATSIM pilot training. If i could get a handful of some voulnteers, who are experinced vatsim flyers we could start a pilot scheme up maybe? I was thinking if i asked VATSIM to do this, could they provide me with my own frequency to talk to the pilots who are training. And could VATSIM somehow connect me to the learning pilots panel to see what they are viewing and what they are doing. The training would be like so: -No theory -reccomend to read VATSIM tutorials -Reccomend to have at least 4 hours in the default FS C172, with one of our instructors before moving on to IFR and payware aircraft. -Member for VATSIM -Vroute installed -Reccomend scenery -Training only BASED in the UK-To speak fluent EnglishThe reward after completing training with our instructors, would to obtain a V.A.L (VATSIM Approved license) The VAL would be in specific aircraft though. Say if you choose to train in the PMDG 737 800/900 you will have a valid V.A.L for the PMDG 737 800/900 series. Once you have passed th V.A.L it will automatically say in your VATSIM I.D you are a V.A.L holder, and in what aircraft type. Training will be booked for a certain time. If one of our instructors can acsess the specific time you have required, they will approve it. If not they will mail you back and offer a time when they are availible, you can accept it, or you dont have to. There will be a choice of aircraft wich to train in, from the default FS C172 to the QW757 etc. But you have to have the add on and so does the instructor. It will work; On the booking page there will be a list of instructors who you would like to have. You can see what instructors there are and the instructors PC setup , and also what add ons the instructor has. Also it will show weither they have FSX or FS2004, you will have to have the same version as the instructor: E.G Jack Bloggs V.A.L Instructor VATSIM I.D: 104229System setup: NVIDIA 9800GT 2.0GHZ FS aircraft add ons avalible: all default FS aircraft, Captain Sim 757-200, Level D 767-300, Quality Wings 757 base pack. FS Other add ons: UK2000 scenery part 1-8, Active Sky 6 FS type: FSX and FS2004 If you have an add on wich is shown on this example and the correct FS type you are ready to fly with the instructor, now you have to make a booking, wich will be somthing like this: Chosen Instructor: Jack Bloggs (VAL INSTRUCTOR) Chosen aircraft: Level D 767-300 (V.A.L Level D 767 license) Your VATSIM I.D: 1087994 Date: 11/12/10 Time UK LOCAL Z: 21:00pm Comments: First time flying Level D 767-300 After the flight with the instructor, the instructor will give you a flight log and put all the necessery info down in it, and of course your hours on what aircraft type youve learned in.Adavantages: -step by step tutorials, quicker and easier way to get flying on VATSIM -Have more knowledge of VATSIM -Rewarding -Easy understanding of of payware aircraft what are similar to real world aircraft -Virtual Airlines, will sign you on with out taking a theory test, if you have a V.A.L in a certain aircraft type what they operate. -Makes it easier for VATSIM ATC, as they know if you have a V.A.L, they dont have to worry about issues. So this is just a bit of what it would be like, if you have any questions please reply, and tell me what you think about this: Cheers, Wowk YEAH i know the grammer is rubbish in this!

  3. Is there a way i can control the pushback manually when turning. SHIFT+P+1/2 method is rubbish, for turning. Its so unpredictable, sometimes it dosent even turn. A better method would be using the SHIFT+P for pushback, then using your rudder/nosewheel to control the turns manually. Would be much more easier and more accurate on getting on to the taxi way center line from the stand. So is there a way i can do it? xml. CFG?

  4. Get yourself some good payware aircraft. If your system isnt good i reccomend the LEVELD767. Thats what i started off in. I had not a clue how to fly it. The FMC was too hard too work, i couldnt even start the engines. But i went on to youtube and watched some brilliant tuorials on how to fly it, and now its a piece of cake flying it. Also get some good scenery. Join VATSIM. you will not get bored of VATSIM, get Vroute Fuel Planner FsPassengers etc and its just like flying the real thing. It will take time though, as its a lot of new stuff to learn.

  5. If you have ever flew the LEVEL D 763, you would of noticed that you can activate the logo lights. In real life you can activate the logo lights. So on add ons such as CS PMDG WILCO, on the lights panel there are logo light switches. BUT WHY DONT THEY WORK!?:( They just stay on all the time no matter if the switch is on/off. Can anyone tell me if i can modify in the CFG to make a logo light and switch to operate on/off? Secondly, can anyone tell me if i can make a keyboard shortcut wich could switch the cabin lights on/off Cheers, Tom Wowk (1084223)

  6. I have had the CS757 for 2 years now. Well if im honest the first year was trying to work out how to fly the bird :Hypnotized: Anyway I think the CS757 cracks the mustard for me. The animations are awsome, just like the functional flightdeck windows etc etc. The CS752 wich i always fly now on VATSIM, has very good flight dynamics. The nose wheel steering is very realistic as it rolls more than any other add ons while taxing the 75. The FMC is good as it has a lot of SIDS/STARS already programmed into the FMC as you dont have to mess around going to navigraph and downloading procedures into it. The model is great on whole, if you stick the TSS RB211-535E4 sound pack on it, you feel the realism. What lets it down though, is the poor peformance it creates on your PC. I want to know if the QW757 has the majority of all the good features of the CS757, but with better peformance on your PC? Cheers, Tom Wowk (1084223)

  7. If any of you are an airline pilot can you answer this stupid question. On the ground can you play a personal CD through the PA for passngers? I know youll be probably in the fightdeck listening to ATIS requesting clearences and doing checks. But can you do it! Cheers, Tom

  8. Hi, Ive just got back from Turkey, i flew from Doncaster EGCN to Dalaman LTBS on a Thomson Boeing 737-300 G-THOP . Im not complaining about the aircraft, just the entertainment. There were no T.V screenings and not even a radio thats nearly 5 hours without any entertainment. If i flew from manchester i would of got a 767. So the quiestion is why don't Thomson Airways operate there 757's or 767's from Doncaster no more. They only operate 738's and 733's? Tom,

  9. Agreed. I'd go through one more time from Init Ref and make sure you have all of the boxes filled. If you've got the time, why not tell us what data you've got entered, and maybe we can find a missing piece.
Ill try and get some snapshots of the init ref, either today or tommorrow, tom wowk.

  10. Hi there, Ive programmed all my FMC corrrectly, the route the perf weight and takeoff thrust setting. When i get to the Vspeeds i normally put in flaps "5". Now, i know it should calculate the Vspeeds when i put the flap setting in but it dosen't. Ive put the departure SID in and the runway. So whats going off? why wont it calculate VSpeeds???

  11. Ok i love the PMDG NG 737. I have the 800/900 series. Basically am having problems with N1%. I put in my gross weight and everything all correct, then the FMC directs me to the N1% limit page. Because the Gross weight has calculated my N1% Take off limitation for N1% lets say its clalculated 97.5%. It sometimes feels that its calculated it wrong. Like i was doing a flight today and i was at bristol EGGD (DEPARTING), and i nearly over shot the runway because i didnt have enough power and thrust to cover, because I was limited to 98.8% N1. I was just wondering can i change the N1% manually to a higher number so this dosent happen, or can i even turn it off? It also happend in Morroco it limited me to a low N1% and i nearly overshot the runway, i was even pretty light around 130000 IBS gorss weight. And im quite sure the NG737 isnt that underpowered! :( Cheers, Wowk!

  12. The 737 prototype (100 series) originally tested out inflatable main gear door seals (basically the same material that inflatable de-icing boots used to be made from when they were common on aircraft), but these were found to be slightly problematic and, like de-icing boots, yet another thing which would have to be serviced, so they were dropped in favour of the static rubber seals the 737 has traditionally sported ever since. Aerodynamically, the lower cruise speed of the 737 had never been felt to matter that much, since it is essentially a regional jet. The original inflatable seals were operated by engine bleed air, and the gear indicator lights had an additional light to indicate that these had inflated and sealed the gear, they could be cut off from bleed air if a warning light indicated that the seals were not properly inflated due to a puncture in the seals (which was likely since they were vulnerable to runway FOD). Additionally, they were found to be quite aerodynamically noisy too, which are just some of the reasons why they were dropped in favour of how 737s are today. When the 200 Series was flight tested, which was developed concurrently with the 100 Series, it was found that it flew at approximately 30 knots slower than they were aiming for, so the notion of putting gear doors on was briefly revisited, however, a 24 million dollar redesign of the 200 Series (which was a lot back then) saw it get different engine pylons, revised thrust reverser clamshells, different flaps and some optimisation to construction of panel join lines to make it a bit slicker, plus a few other tweaks here and there. This got them up to the speed they were aiming for, and since we have to bear in mind that a lot of the 737 design was with the intention of keeping parts commonality with the 727, Boeing felt that what was done in the redesign was enough. Recently of course, the 737NG has gained a bit of speed and a higher service ceiling certification. With regard to the 757 wheel configuration, that would be problematic. The NG has got different main gear to preceding 737 models to handle the increased weight and dynamic loads of variants such as the 900 and 900ER and to give the tail a bit more clearance on rotation (the NG gear is three and a half inches longer and considerably tougher on later variants). These aircraft are very similar in capacity to some 757 models, but despite the capacity similarities and the massive range of the 900ER, it is still essentially aimed at the same buyers as other 737s, i.e. the big range of the 900ER is more about it being able to fly frequent hops with fast turnarounds on the ground from less refined runways, which is why the short field performance kit and reinforced tailskid is standard on the 900ER. The 737 also features main landing gear that castors slightly and has increased play compared to the 757, which is intended to make it more suitable for crosswing landing as being a fairly short haul jet, it is less well endowed when it comes to diversion capabilities (or at least it was). Adding the more complex 757 gear would reduce its crosswind limit.Al
Thanks for all the comments but have you seen the new A320's? Take a look: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ugWk-rnkqXM/SdPE...re_Aviation.JPG So whats the crack here then?

  13. Hi, I'm hoping to join an aviation academy such as CTC wings or OAA to gain all my type ratings, examinations, licenses etc etc. Both of the following schools need, an interview. I go on VATSIM a lot and i always fly the best payware aircraft what is on the market, so its pretty close to realsim, and because of VATSIM i have a very good knowledge of aviation and ho it works. So i was thinking if i go into the interview should i mention VATSIM? Or would they think i'm a blibbering idiot, and it'll be there joke of the day? What do you think?

  14. Are there any maps what show where VOR's are in the country. Basically i just want some country maps, which have VOR's plotted in the country. It would be nice, to find out, atually what city and region i'm flying through. If any one knows where i can buy country maps with this data on, or for download, i would be greatful if you could help :).

  15. Many airlines now, are having winglets equipped to there 767's. Is there any textures or models, for the leveld that i can add, which gives the aircraft winglets. I do respect that the Level D is an absoloute work of art. So if there is any addons you know of, for a WL model, i would be greatful.

  16. The 739ER was supposed to...Good question, but if Boeing ceased production of the 757, chances are, there will not be an aircraft as good as the 757 anytime soon.Tri-engines will never be considered a good choice again; same reason why main aircraft manufacturers abandoned the aircraft with tail-mounted engines designs. The claim "unefficiency"Another 757. Just as there will never be a replacement for the MD-80 other than another MD-80
I think all Mcdonell Douglas designs are gone now in the aviation world. Except smaller jets just like the CRJ and what not, but i personally think there will not be a nother like the MD-80 series upcoming in the future. Also what i would like to see, is an atual radar map on the HSI of new boeing aircraft. So the taxiways and stands will be radared on the HSI map. Would be much easier for bigger airports and pilots. Also something like an advanced radar of a satlite view of the HSI, Just like Google Earths satilite view!!! Wonder if the 787 has something like that????

  17. I think most of aviation enthusiasts are stunned with your new Boeing787. The thing is, the last 15 years you have came up with the 777 767-300F, and all the new gen 737's and so on. The thing is what im worrying about, is most airlines have the 757. What is going to replace the 757, with it's current range and exceptional specs. The NG 737's arn't going to cover the range the 757 has. In the UK charter airlines use the 757 for practically everything. From a short 40 minute domestic flights to a 8 hour flights. My conern is what aircraft is going to replace the 757? I don't think airlines would base the 787 for domestic flights, and even short hauls if im honest. The 737NG are great but the choices with the new generaation seem only to be the 700 and 800 series according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_737_Next_Generation . When the 737NG goes out of service what will be a good replacement? Would another narrow body aircraft just like the 757 be a good choice for airlines? Would a try engine aircraft be a good choice? I know also you know could achive a more efficient aircraft than the 737NG. What do you people think that will be a good aircraft just like the 757, for its payload, specs and range? Yes i know what the hell is "Beoing"? :(
