  1. Hi,I have been running FSX for a while now with a number of complex addons (scenery and planes). I try to keep a reasonably high-spec machine (AMD/ATI-based - reluctant to pay the prices for Intel/Nvidia hardware). As I continually try to tweak to get the most out of my system I can't help thinking that we will never get the 'perfect' FSX system because of the way it was programmed. For example, if I try to run Captain Sim 757 at Heathrow Mega Airport with full sliders parts of the plane vanish - trawling through the internet I discover this may be because there isn't enough memory available (I have Vista64bit with 8Gb of RAM). I conclude therefore that because FSX is a 32bit program it will never be able to allocate itself more than 4Gb, irrespective of what is in my system. Also, more sophisticated graphics cards only offer limited improvement - whenever the improvement is in core clock speed, memory speed or data bandwidth. Any sophisticated development to the actual graphics processing which attempts to use advances in DirectX 11 and above (and other software advances) will have little or no benefit because FSX does not utilise these routines. And finally, I have 6 cores on my AMD processor and yes, FSX can now use multiple cores. But, given that it took a patch for this and the original software was not optimized for such a hardware development I cannot help but feel that the cores will not be utlilized in the most efficient of ways.I have pessimistically reached the conclusion that the ultimate in FSX with lots of AI-traffic, complex aircraft and top-notch scenery may be forever out of reach. What do others think? Am I too pessimistic?Jason.
