  1. Hey thank you Craig, i knew has some topic was talk about it..hahahha.

And the answer is what ever how much memory i got the FSX can only using up to 4Gb.

Also i prefer option 5 when PMDG is real release their plane~

OK. A simple search would have found all your answers you are looking for, as VAS has been beaten to death on here, but because I am in a nice mood I will give you a rundown here.

As Oliver said above, physical memory will make no difference to FSX once you pass 4gb, however it will allow FSX to use the maximum it can by allowing external programs to have a bite of the pie.

VAS on the other hand is virtual memory. A 32bit program will have a maximum of 4gb VAS on a 64 bit OS, less on a 32 bit OS, hence the comment above about a 64bit operating system. FSX is a 32bit program that was built in 2006 and unfortunately that is the way it will stay.

    Now there are some ways of working round it. The options are as follows;

    1. Turn off scenery that you are not using. Photoscenery will load even if you do not fly over it, airports you fly over load into memory and have trouble unloading.

    2. Monitor your VAS usage, when it gets high save your flight, reload FSX and your flight and land safely.

    3. Use DX10 with the aid of Steve's DX10 Fixer, this will make FSX use you graphics card for some of the work (short explanation).

    4. Move to P3D and use DX11 (see above)

    5. Move to Xplane 10 64bit.

  2. I just saw the message during when i flight to destinaiton airport, computer said "your computer has run

out of available memory", and i research about this VAS problem.

And i curious if i buy more physical memory to upgrade my computer memory to 16GB can be avoid OOM ?( I still using 8g)

    Thanks

  3. Fjsharry, I would buy the A2A B377 before waiting for the DC6. I mean no disrespect to PMDG but I think you might get alot of mileage out of it before the DC6 comes along in my opinion, maybe even have to service your new B377 a few times too!

It will be great to have another high quality large prop, I hope for FSX in my case but others will want it for P3Dv2 I bet.

Well I guess you can practice your navigation and routes in the B377 first before the DC6 appears.

I second what Dave says.  It's a great aircraft!

Great plane, isn't it?  I think I've gotten more miles out of my B-17, but I don't think I've given the 377 enough of a shot, unfortunately.  Both are great sims.  Even the start procedures of the B-17 are pretty awesome.

How about coolsky DC-9 class,i still compare both aircraft, one is propeller second is jet, both was old time aircraft.

    Have any idea ?

  4. Hi Clark,i used to use REX+ weather engine, and rex+ have real wind aloft capability, also have provide aloft wind data from program,i was tried to enter to FMC,and i can't see what different between before or after enter those wind temp data.

And i love fly MD-11 or Concorde so far.

    Hi Fu

My enjoyment of the MD-11 increased a lot when I also purchased Active Sky 2012. AS allows you to set and read 'winds aloft' data so you can enter the cruise altitude temperature and headwind component into the MCDU Init page. This makes "time to arrival" and fuel usage predictions much more interesting than when using the stock FSX weather. You should give it a try.

And I agree that when you keep the FMCs well-informed of your intentions, the MD-11 piloting experience is really cool. :)

    Happy Holidays

    Clark

Ha! I didn't know what 'RTA' was so my reply may seem a bit off-topic. :)

  5. I just thought this, and i want know how is it for your situation.

I read FMC manunal from PMDG and some real airline, and notice i just used VERY less FMC function in my past experience(situation). Like RTA,i try to choose specific time to arrival that waypoint, but always get Error...,i still don't know why,i guess FSX need more good weather software to avoid some strange wind change..

Also i found MD-11 have many capability, for example, i just flight from LFPG to EDDM few days ago, have one simmer was front of me during landing(I'am number two) ,so choose Go around to avoid crash.

When i push go around button on throttle, then seem MD-11 know what should i doing..,it's speical experience for me : )

    Greetings
