True, I'm not using DWC. I fly primarily "3rd party" aircraft.I have switched to DWC mode but frequently experience the serious S-turn problems that the pop-up info describes when I hover the cursor over the DWC checkbox. I'm doing a flight right now. When I leveled off at FL340, the winds that I was getting were 80° off. ASE shows that they should be from 198°. What I was seeing is 286°.I switched on DWC and the winds DID straighten out but within 5 minutes she started to do S-turns. I set the heading manually in the MCP and turned off LNAV. After a few minutes Iwent back to LNAV and now, after about 10 minutes, she's holding course well. The METAR shows winds from 201°, I'm getting winds from 186°. I'm guessing that the difference is because the METAR reports winds in relation to True North and, since I'm flying over Northern California, I think the mag. deviation is 12-15°, that would explain the difference.
