I'm having the same problem. I've just purchased a new system (again with Windows XP) and installed FS9 as I had on my previous computer. when I first began using the sim on the new PC, steering whuile taxying and on take-off and landing was pretty straightforward - then just since yesterday the problem you describe started (maybe it's something to do with New Year). In this case, the drift is always to the right. Also I'm having a strange problem where rotating the joystick and then holding it in the left or right turn position. turns the nosewheel, and then it straightens up all by itself, even though I haven't released the stick. I can't understand why this is happening - I'm using a different joystick to the one I had previously, which was a Thrustmaster ( I now have a Saitek X52)However I don't think it's something to do with the new joystick. Maybe adjusting the settings in FS9 would solve the problem, but I don't know how to do this.

Up until recently my fs9 was running no problems, but the last few times I have flown, the folllowing is happening:-- when I taxi the aircraft nose is drifting (not steering I think) either left or right by itself.-- on take off and landing roll I am constantly having to apply rudder just to stay on the runway.I find this freaky, I have not made any changes or installed any add-ons other than recently upgrading fsuipc. This problem seems to have come from nowhere. I guess it helps to say the following also:-- I have a thrustmaster joystick, rudder on the throttle control. As far as I know it is calibrated and working ok, I get no problems in-flight.-- it is not a line-up problem, I'm no master-flyer, but I've been taking off and landing straight for a couple of years.I'd really appreciate what you guys make of this, it's really doing my head in ... and my passengers are not all that thrilled about it either lol.regards,John
  3. It worked !! - Sorry, I forgot about the automatic virus ID updates to AviraI've uninstalled Avira (only difference I made was not re-installing it (I have another AV program to replace it) and that solved the problemThanks for that Gus, the problem must lie with one of the files downloaded by Avira - in any case FS is loading properly now :(
  4. The OS wasn't updated at all (unless Microsoft did it without telling me) and no software of ANY kind was installed after FS2004 was operating properly but before this problem appearedThanks for adding the link to the other forum topic.I checked this out - the problem didn't directly relate to this one, and in any case the problem on that topic had been solvedI don't know why my system keeps insisting that the version of DirectX is incompatible. As part of the setup procedure for FS2004, the correct version is installed, but doing this didn't solve the problem.
  5. I have a copy of FS2004, which was working normally until yesterday. On running the program yesterday evening an error message appeared stating that the installed version of DirectX was incompatible with FS2004, and to install the correct version either by downloading it or running the FS setup again.I downloaded and installed the latest version of DirectX, but running FS again produced the same error message. I then tried uninstalling FS completely, and setting it up again, but this had no effect either.Any solutions/suggestions ??
