I did, that is at one of those times right after the FO’s flow was completed, I checked to see whether the test would work if I did it myself and indeed it did so.

I had the impression that I never heard the TCAS system test OK sound during the FO’s originating flow so during my last three originating flights I stopped my own work to observe my FO and indeed while I do see him do things like the anti skid and WX radar test he never performs the TCAS test. Anyone else notice this?

I refer to the button on the throttle but you’re right, in the Q400 it is callled just GA rather than TOGA.

I am following the published flows. To amplify: I have tried a few more first and thru flights and found the following: The FO does indeed push the TOGA button during his Before start flow, and that does indeed cancel the ALT SEL selection if I choose to push the TOGA and ALT SEL buttons myself during my Before start flow to set the FGCP. No major issue obviously but I do think I should push TOGA, not the FO. This happens on both first and thru flights. I have noticed that during his Before start flow the FO briefly switches from ELEC to NAV. In a number of cases he switches right back to ELEC but sometimes the display remains in NAV. I really am unable to put my finger on the reason why it does that sometimes. Obviously no major problem either but it does surprise me somewhat since all other display switches by the FO are consistently spot on. The fact that the FO waits to perform his Parking flow until not only CL 1 but also CL 2 is set to off happens on both first and thru flights.

I realize that I would have to do the review myself but I don’t mind, in fact I find that it helps me focus on some of the particulars of the impending takeoff, just as intended in RW OPS I guess. If the Any questions No questions routine would still be available at this point, that would really be the icing on the cake.

And I agree with the FD STBY request. Interestingly I have noticed that the command is recognized and the FO will even reply Set but then will not touch the button (yet). If I may add a request: would it be possible to add an Are you ready for the departure review kind of sequence, as in NGX reboot SOP 3, before the Before T/O checklist? First it gives you one more thing to do during long taxi times :-) and second in the C/L a take off briefing is mentioned which would suggest this SOP would also include a review during taxi.

I am having a ball with my FO since you managed to bring him to life, Bryan, really appreciate it. The one thing I don’t like about FS2Crew is that it seems so awfully lonely without it that I will usually only buy aircraft with FS2Crew capability ;-) I have noticed the following: It seems to me that during the FO’s before start flow he pushes the TOGA buttons. However, since I am the PF I regard that as my duty and besides it is mentioned in my flow to set the panel. The result of the FO’s action is to delete the ALT SEL that I had previously selected. So I am not sure the FO should touch the TOGA button when he does. As I understand it the FO should perform his parking flow after CL 1 is set to off. However I am unable to get him to work until the moment that I have also selected CL 2 to off. No major problem but it does kind of defeat the purpose of the split in flows and checklists in to and below the line so I would like to see my FO a little bit more attentive at this point :-) I have noticed that quite often (somehow it seems not always, have been unable to correlate why) right at the start of the Before Start checklist the FO will switch from ELEC display to the Nav display, which makes it harder to reply to the Voltage challenge. At the end of the check list he will return to the Elec page. Since the Nav display is not uselful during the checklist I would prefer he left it in in ELEC.

Unfortunately, that doesn't do the trick either...

I did that too but alas no joy. Is there any technical difference between the NGX and Q400 gauge? I seem to recall that when I installed the latest version of the NGX it also updated some Net 3.5 files which it hadn't done for the Q400, while for the Q400 it updated some Redistributal files which I don’t recall it doing for the initial NGX reinstall which I only did Sunday morning. I only recently changed my HD so everything is a fairly recent and clean reinstall.

For your information, I was running a previous version of NGX reboot, so for good measure I just downloaded the latest version and installed it, all without any special precautions so no virusscanner off, not running as admin, and still it works fine, which leaves me all the more puzzled as to why the Q400 is not working. Just bought the FSX 32 bits version. I can’t get the panels to show. My own trouble-shooting: - NGX reboot still works fine - Did a complete uninstall and reinstall of the aircraft, v1.020. - Did a second download and reinstall, with my virus scanner off - Obviously I did enable in the Config manager - The ini does contain the FS2Crew lines - The gau.file is installed in the right directory as mentioned in the ini file - The panels can be selected in the Views > Instrument panel menu but will only show up as black squares - I ran the installer, the Config manager and FSX as administrator From reading others posts my conclusion is that the entire install is OK as such but for some reason the gau.file is not doing what it is supposed to do and I am at a loss what’s going on
