  1. An addendum:Make sure before you run XG, the only aircraft in your \SimObjects\Airplanes folder is any payware aircraft you added e.g. Level-D or PMDG and the aircraft that are installed by FSX. This method is known to work. Adding the WoAI aircraft and possibly, but NOT tested might be something like Ultimate Traffic...I cannot certify about something like Ultimate Traffic, but am confident about my stated method to install. I.E. I know that works. I tried this with JUST the payware and having removed all the other aircraft installed with FSX and it did NOT work. When I added back the aircraft added by FSX, XG worked just fine. Am adding this as I had to re-install and found I had left out some of the finer points of a successful install.Happy Flying!
  2. I'm obsessive with the commands...i keep the script in front of me. Reading off script was always frowned upon :(. You mentioned elsewhere that a USB headset produced better results. Although I'm getting good results with the teaching the speech engine, perhaps I just need to make a purchase. Thanks for responding and if you ever have a tutorial script for the speech engine, would LOVE to have it.Regards,GeorgeHA036
  3. Start off with the "I love the product" because, well, I do...it along with Radar Contact make for a great flight sim experience...though if you and the RC people could hook up your products without a needing YAP (Yet Another Product) you would get no objections from me...BUT that is not the intention of this post. Do you have any script or any way to interface with the speech engine in Windows in order to specifically train the engine for the phrases used in FS2Crew? As an example for the life of me, my FO does not understand the words "ON" and "FLAPS n" where n is the degree of flaps. It understands everything else fairly well, especially by everyone except the FO. Does the FO lust for the Captain's seat so selectively ignores him? Love a good conspiracy. For the record my accent would be considered as Des Moines, IA. Why? It is the sought after accent for broadcasting which I once was. I talk like a newscaster because I was one. Actually I only go "into" the broadcasting voice when using FS2Crew, not to my girlfriend. Also for the record, I've been through the Windows speech exercise oh, 20 times and it at most misses one sentence (or I do if you ask the computer). So is such a thing possible? Am I remiss for having missed your response in another post (wouldn't be the first time)? Think it would be a worthwhile addition if it were possible. Thanks for sharing any thoughts.
  4. Hi,It is fixed. I did a complete vanilla install only with the addition of the LVL-D 763 and PMDG 747-400X. 1. I did not change any settings in the registry.2. When first the XG install was attempted and failed last week, the following were true. I had removed all aircraft that were default to FSX and replaced them with WoAI "dumb" AI aircraft. The only complete aircraft installed at the time XG was attempted were the Level-D and PMDG aircraft. It should be noted that the "dumb" aircraft do not have a panel.cfg.3. Windows 7 already has .NET Framework 2.0 which I believe was rolled up into one of the latter packages. Windows 7 will not allow the installation of .NET Framework 2.0.4. While having the option of which window entry to use for XG, both the Level-D and PMDG aircraft have in excess of 11 windows, so "append" was my choice so as not to compromise the base installations of those payware aircraft.Perhaps one or more of these findings might be useful in future documentation for the product? Thanks for your help.George
  5. Hmm. Would you consider the fact that I only have one computer as my server computer? It really is a standalone, do you still want me to run through those procedures?g
  6. Hi Jim,Perhaps you are referring to page 55 of the documentation? It appears to be in a section of the manual for Networked Configuration For FSX. It seems to say to move the XG folder to an alternate location. No doubt I'm missing the information you wish to point me to...problem being sharp as a marble some days. I have a fair handle on the makeup of the panel.cfg file which is where I (caution with the following word) assume all the action takes place. Would appear also to need a .dll installed somewhere. On page 56 there are references to some registry entries which I'm comfortable doing but they appear to be for networking. I continue to thank you sir for your help.George
  7. Great stuff...thanks! I was reading about the 580 ti today. On my reading list tonight is the Sandy Bridge. Noticed G.Skill has this ECO "green" memory. Timings are not too bad and it is spec'd at 1.35V at DDR3-1600 Timing is 7-8-7-24-2N for $67. Just a boring fact. My memory is running fine, well my computer memory :mellow:Thanks dazz, when I have a bad day/week/etc. no need to subject others, so apology was necessary.I added ASE today and the performance seems to be totally smooth. I just don't understand FSX. The down side is I can't get the XGauge to install. Am working with the vendor now. I'm loving the wx though.Just looking at the Intel chip. Does the built in graphics adversely affect performance?Oh, as the the V8, I keep ALL hardware. Think I've got some bits off of my Northgate 386-20 w/floating point processor no less. :biggrin:Alright, could I save a couple more bucks with an I5-2500 ? The only difference I saw between the plain and K models had to do with the internal video. Does that mean anything to me? All other specs appears to be the same.Well, never mind. Looks like the K model is unlocked. A good thing.
  8. Hi,A couple of weeks ago I opened a can of worms that was entirely my fault and I apologize to all for not handling the thread well at all. I am still interested in your knowledge and opinions and ask that you be kind enough to share them.I want to build my final desktop computer. The aim of which is to run FSX (and FS9) but no more than that. Any machine I assemble is 100+ times more than I need to write email or browse the web. I could used my old AMD Athlon XP 3200+ for that and still have horsepower to spare. Well, if you could measure computers in horse power. So much would appreciate what each of you would deem to be a "just right" configuration. Am interested in CPUs, video cards, mother boards and any other component that is relevant such as perhaps a power supply. If you have experience with Intel AND AMD please let me know why or why not one is better for the task, same for nVidia vs ATI and down the line. Again, I play NO games whatsoever. My eye hand coordination is pathetic (want a good laugh, watch me attempt tennis). My era was Pong and Missle Command, maybe Breakout and if I push it, Tetris. I tried the original Nintendo Mario Bros when I was in Japan before it came to the US, never got to level 3. So FSX is my focus and only focus. My point is, I'm by necessity thrifty. If a GTX 260 will give me ultimate FSX experience AND I don't game, then that is the card for me. If I NEED a DX 11 card, fine, if not necessary to run FSX (full out FSX) then I don't need it.I do hope this makes sense. Like Little Red Riding Hood...I want the JUST RIGHT.My current system which is not bad at all and lacking any counsel and advice, could live with it but am at the limit. The picture isn't PERFECTLY smooth. 98%. Pretty good. But if I add in the software I talk about later, all might go to hell in a hand basket.MB: Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE (unlocked) 3.2 GHz OC'd to 3.8GHzVideo: BFG nVidia GTX 260 using BFG factory overclockHDD: 2x WD 1TB and 2xWD 250GB. On the 1TB drives, all the software doesn't use many tracks and have had up to 85+MB/s transfer speed. I have removed ALL of the FSX default aircraft. Future possible adds: FS Global 2010 X - My eyesight doesn't justify much finer detail than LOD 12. FS Global 2008 X may be good enough but doesn't cover the world. I'm thinking North Pole.GEX and UTX So that's where I am. I lust as much as anyone over the latest and greatest. But important is, and many here have said it, a 6core is going to do not much of anything and perhaps an OC'd Intel to 4.?GHz is better. Ok, if that makes FSX run smooth, cool. Am always interested in competing vendors. the AMD I have is not the top of the X4 line and I could get one that could be OC'd to over 4GHz. Is there magic that FSX like in Intel, or brute cycles of 4GHz+ that makes FSX better? This is absolutely a subjective exercise and that is fine! No matter what you offer, I will learn and make a better system. One issue for me is that Moore's Law is still kicking my butt. Everytime something comes down in price, it is gone before my next payday. That is my issue, not the issue of this thread. So THANK YOU for any input and time you care to share with me. I do appreciate it and this time around, I am not here to challenge anything, just listen. I may have a technical question, say, how to components play together, but not question your assessment. 9. Hi,You've lost me now. When you say manually enter the line for the planes you fly, exactly what does that mean? Looking at XG, I see a couple .dll files but no code in text form that I could add to a panel.cfg. Do you have any tricks for seeing where a security permission is failing? One of the Win 7 logs? Maybe a switch or a dump from XG where a return code could be found. I don't know what XG is looking for when it errors off and by extension don't know where the program was looking to claim there was an error. XG has made a decision but I don't know upon what that decision was based and what "branch" was taken as a result.George
  10. Hi,Wondering if any progress is being made on this matter? Would it be easier for me to fill in panel.cfg entries by hand? Something is in the way, but so far no clues. Thanks
  11. Hi,I opened the LVL-D 763 (no winglets) panel.cfg for edit and then turned right around and saved it. Did NOTHING else. Right now ASE is NOT installed, only the Level-D 767 with and without winglets and the PMDG 747-400X. There are no "default" aircraft that came with FSX installed (they have ALL been removed) in favor of WoAI aircraft which put, for all purposes, no strain on the system.Did you want ASE installed first before I did the above edit of the panel.cfg? ..easy to re-install those aircraft then edit a panel.cfg and do you care which of the 3 aircraft you want the panel.cfg edited? Note: I will never fly or use in my system the default aircraft that come with FSX. I want payware with working FMC's and bells and whistles....yes, I was was a professional computer geek including your thankless job in software customer support so I'll keep my sarcasm in check. Thanks for your help, it really is appreciated.
  12. So now I'll repeat what I said. On the first post I told of all the add-ons for FSX, which all installed just fine and the new fact that I turned off anti-virus and anti-spyware on ESET Smart Security before attempting the Wizard install. Oh, all those add-ons were added with security turned on. Yes I tried this both ways, security on and off. So I'll try to figure out what is happening.
  13. Expect I am one in the same. We can go back to email if you like. I tried again, and did NOT right click to run As Administrator, no difference.
  14. Have given you my information...any thoughts? Is FS2Crew involved or anything else for that matter. Not understanding the installation process makes it difficult to address my issue, but perhaps I need to take the time. Anywhere I can get some reading material or be pointed to information that might help me? Not trying to rush, just want to enjoy the promise of your product. I already expect I did something stupid, please point it out to me. Thanks.
  15. G:\FSXThe account type for my signon is Administrator and UAC is set at the bottom setting. Still used the right click "Run as administrator" just for grins.
