Hi Guys, A lot of water has gone under the bridge (or the 737) since I contacted you before. A new pc has meant that I can now run the PMDG 737 quite well with no problems as regards performance. My concern now is getting to grips with the FMC. I have been through the first tutorial with partial success having got it to fly me to Schiphol turning on all the waypoints. I failed to make the in flight changes to get it to auto land but managed a manual landing ok on arrival. Since then I have done many manual landings so am fairly proficient at that and one or two ILS landings. Now I want to be able to program the FMC to fly a route of my choosing and that will not be so easy, or at least I don't think so. I recently had a 90min session at the 737 Virtual Aerospace Simulator at Sywell which was another thing altogether. Wonderful experience. I could do with the instructor there living next door to me, I might then soon get to apply for a job on an airline, ha ha. Regards, Barrie
  2. Hello, I bought a box version of the PMDG 737 and want to use the FMC. In the box was a booklet giving step by step instructions for tutorial 1. I have gone through this four times now and each time when I get to the point where the route has to be modified for a speed restriction it goes pear shaped. Instead of waypoint SUGOL I get ARTOV shown when I go to remove the speed restriction on page 37. Has anyone else come across this and why does it happen. I tried to complete the setup but get a message saying the speed restriction is still there. It all goes perfectly up to page 35. I follow the text religiously each time. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Barrie

Thanks guys, I will go for the IFly version as a computer upgrade is not likely just yet. From what I've read this FS9 version sounds good enough for me and there is no doubt FS9 runs a lot better than FSX as regards frame rates. Cheers, Barrie

Thanks for confirming where I stand on this. Before I give up are you saying there is an equivalent simulation of this for FS9? I do run FS9 as well and in all of that game I get much better frame rates than FSX Is 737NG the same as 737NGX? If not what is the difference? Cheers, Barrie

Thanks both for your advise. Difficult to compare the two replies as snowingairlines thinks I am wasting my time to even consider the software while Dave Scalora suggests I might have a chance. I canot compare his i7 processor to the one I have but somehow I have a feeling mine system is a little old in the tooth to compare favourably. I'm not into over clocking so I won't attempt that. Looks like the default 737 is the only option but I was hoping for complete reality as I have the chance of 90 minutes on the real simulator for this aircraft and wanted to do my homework before that event. Cheers, Barrie

I am interested in the above aircraft simulation. However I have heard that it demands a good computer to run well. How can I assess whether or not it is worth buying for my current system? I can find no minimum spec for it on the PMDG website and PCPilot failed miserably to even mention such a thing in their review of this software. It's all very well to say how wonderful the software is when I did read someone say they got a frame rate of 8 with it. I attach my DX Diag file
  7. Hi Bill, Remember me from not so good (right now) UK? I have had the B25 for FS2002 for some time now and I have applied the FS9 update. It is a wonderful simulation as all MAAM aircraft are. However I am having trouble restarting the engines once I have cut them by setting the Mixture to Idle Rich. Once they have stopped turning I press the usual Ctrl + E or I have a yoke button mapped to the same and all that happens is the port engine turns over but won't catch and run. Just occasionally I manage to get the port engine running only to find the starboard one then won't start. Other twin engined aircraft do start ok. The only way I can restart them is to select the aircraft again from the interface if I have flown it and landed. If I stop them on the flight line I can restart by selecting Reset Flight. Any suggestions please? Regards, Barrie PS What is v.7 of this aircraft and can I buy an update to that. Is v.7 for FS9 or FSX
