Running out of video memory
Could it have anything to do with the way I plug/unplug headphones in throughout a flight?

Running out of video memory
Rendi's suggestion seems to have done the trick, for now! Thank you. Mind you, I do seem to have lines appearing down the screen every now and then in built up areas where I think the graphics card is struggling, but not crashing, which is the main thing. I can live with lines. ^_^ I will try your suggestion too Jim, just to see if it gives me better results, but thank you both awfully for the help & advice; just the ticket. Kind Regards David.

Also had this as a CTD the other night, not sure whether it is related though. Was flying the PMDG 744. Regards David

Running out of video memory
Good evening and hello. I've recently invested in a new graphics card, the old one was blacking out, and trying to fine-tweak my FSX to get the best out of it all, but I seem to be getting CTDs both loading DLLs and "run out of video memory" errors. It's really very frustrating & usually takes place on descent/approach at the end of any flight longer than say, a good hour. I realise it's a matter of trying and testing but I wondered if any of you had some suggestions? My FSX CFG: My specs: Intel Core i7-3820 OC @ 4.625Ghz EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Superclocked 2GB OCZ Blade 10GB DDR3 @ 2000Mhz CL 9-9-9-30 256 GB Crucial SSD 1TB WD Caviar Black HDD Many thanks for your help & advice in advance. David.
