  1. Bravo. My and many others sentiments exactly, whether silent or otherwise. As I have said a few posts ago, I and many like me have spend endless hours and incomeon our addons, hardware and time and it seems that MS would have considered this (fingers crossed).I think we've split 50/50 on this as a community that is obsessing about the new incarnationof Flight Simulator. Both halves are well deserved for their concerns and deserve theirvoices to be heard.Yea, It's damn crappy to have to worry about all of the countless lost hours of swearing, sweat andloving patience of our mates when it comes to the concern as to whether MS is going to leave usout in the proverbial cold.I remember back when FS 98 came out and they were introducingthe mufti-player stuff (web). Everyone was up in arms. But when the dust settled, it was MS whoactually started the whole mufti-flight gig and everyone grabbed on.I think that MS is doing this. They are working with mainstream FS9/X after-market developers and creatinga product that is essentially FSX but with the benefit of 3-4 years of product development.Someone once posted a video on YOUTUBE where they called itFS11. It was nothing more than FSX with every major addon you could imagine. It looked really great. Of course, he was full of it. But, it underlined a point. The new FS is probably going to be this but with the power of MS behind itwith every major addon developer in their back pocket.Anyway. That is my rambling two-cents.FreddyFred
  2. True. However if I understand you, MS of course did not stop at FS2000 but plodded on.Well, with FSX I think it is safe to assume that the majority of the FS9/X fans out there thoughtthat the death of Aces meant the death of this franchise, period. So, continuing to nurturethe vestiges of FS9/X would be a safe bet considering that the franchise seemed DOA (at leastfrom MS's POV {assuming}). So, after reading more of this thread, I do agree with post #31's point thatwe are all anxious and rubbing our collective hands in anticipation for eitherdisappointment or joy. I would prefer the latter..This could be the beginning of a beautiful FS experience. We shall see.FreddyFred
  3. I am sure it's been said and pondered upon but, for myself being a long-time MSFS (from ver 3) I would like to throwmy few cents in.I am in the process of revamping my rig (erasing FSX from system to re-install everything fresh with new addons) and thought,'hmmm. I am going to expend around 10 hours of major surgery on my rig and yet, MS Flight is coming out... Should I botherto invest $$ and time with new addons just to have to abandon them (if I chose to go FS Flight) or shall I just sit tight andhope that MS comes out with more information ? ?' .....Well. I see many people make the same statement that we as FS enthusiasts would not hesitate to go down the FS Flight highwayas long as we knew something about it (someone made nice comment that we are not see anything relevant from MS except screenshotsevery 30-60 days.. true!).Well, I feel the same.I would not hesitate to throw down $200 bucks on this new sim or continue to evolve my current rig as longas I KNEW something from MS regarding whether people using existing addons (scenery, A/C, utilities, VATSIM, etc) could stillmove it over to MS Flight! As to those who ponder the meaning of Microsoft's many uses of Hawaii screenshots, I think that MS would not exclude the entireglobe and have us purchase world addons. Seems counter-intuitive. Why would they alienate the rest of the FS world save for the USAand Hawaii (yes, Hawaii is part of the USA.. caught me..) ?Maybe they will have country-based releases? Live in Europe? No problem! We give you Europe in all it's glory but we are goingto remove the rest of the globe.. Live in China? No problem either!.. Here's Asia for you minus the rest of the globe!... and so forth.I think our biggest concern is whether or not we can continue to utilize all of the addons (scenery, A/C, etc) in MS Flight. After spending major $ over the past few years and countless hours of time configuring our systems why would wein a sane mind cross over to a new platform and yet have to abandon money and time to the whims of MS?I say we stick to FSX and improve the hell out of it beyond even MS's dreams or keep our fingers crossed and hopethat MS uses some common sense. I am no MS fan-boy by any stretch of the imagination but, lets hope the theyfind two brain cells to rub together to keep this franchise cohesive and fluid. That is my two-cents.FreddyFred
