You guys were having too much fun simulating the whole world, so we decided to 86 that with this version of the simulator. We will consider selling other small islands and areas, but they will be expensive upgrade packs.Q: Will airliners be simulated in Microsoft Flight?A: For the immediate future, no. We posted screenshots of a couple of small planes. Did we not give you enough hints? Eventually we might add airliners if there is enough interest, but to keep it simple for a wider audience, the controls inside will be identical to existing small planes. Lets face it we never emulated an FMS properly, and we ain't gonna start in this new dumbed down version.Q: Will other forms of transport be included?A: No. At least not until we can find a way to make money by selling them.Q: Will user created content be supported?A: Yes. You will be able to create user supported content after signing a 500 page document and agreeing to sell us your first born. User created content will be provided through the XBox Live store. Price will depend on popularity - the more popular the more limbs you'll have to sell to own the addon. You simulator fans should discuss taking out a loan with their bank manager now, to avoid the wait.Q: Is Microsoft Flight based on the Microsoft Flight Simulator code base?A: Yes. We basically took the code to FSX acceleration, stripped out the simulatey bits, and added a metric ton of eye candy and a few sounds as well. Our new coders don't understand all the code, so if they come across something that isn't well documented or that they don't understand, we encourage them to rip it out and replace it with a pretty picture.Q: Will there be an SDK?A: Yes, we plan to endevour to provide a half hearted buggy SDK. The online connected nature of our code means you'll be able to transfer creations automatically by paying for a special download-as-you-fly pass through Xbox Live. We managed to get a whole slew of supposedly intelligent people to put millions of man hours into their creations that made the original Microsoft Flight Simulator popular. We intend to monetize those suckers erm we mean developers again. Paid developers won't be left out either, provided they're willing to give us a 50% cut. We didn't charge a percentage last time and we won't be making that mistake again!Q: Will Microsoft Flight allow custom content from the previous Microsoft Flight Sim series to be imported?A: This is a difficult one to answer. End users who do not want to create payware software should just forget about it. But for large addon developers we will consider assisting you to port over addons we approve provided you give us a cut.Q: Tell me more about the sounds you are using in Microsoft Flight. What can we expect?A: Also sounds. Lots of sounds. Apple has a thousand f&*t apps, and we don't want to be seen as stagnant. You can read all about our sound engineer's dillusions of grandure on our blog. (We would post the link but we're too bored with it to look it up. Bing for it.) Hard landings sound different to soft landings, but that's okay because our ease of use policy means that you'll have to nose dive at greater than Vmax to ever hear it. But we did a lot of work to increase the wave file volume in sound recorder for the hard landings. You're all going to love it!!Q: Why was the original Microsoft Flight Simulator series canned? Why did you fire all those experienced developers?A: The marketing wasn't working. FSX code was a shambles but who cares about the code anyway? The real failure was not being able to convince people that 5fps should be enough for anyone so long as the stuttering mess is pretty. Anyway when BillG left Monkey Boy had to assert his authority some how, and what better way than p***ing on BillG's long time pet project.Q: Why are you running a closed private beta? Wouldn't a public beta be more useful for troubleshootnig? Why is the NDA so restrictive?A: The purpose of this beta isn't to troubleshoot anything - it is to simplify the code. We want to determine just how many features we can cut and how much we can dumb this thing down before people stop playing. The NDA will help us send lawyers to shut anyone up that lets people know about features we cull, and then we can just deny it.Q: We hard core Microsoft Flight Simulator fans are unhappy about some of the changes. After spending so much time and effort creating custom content we have nothing but abandoned software to show for our work. Is there anything we can do to address this?A: Yes, you can either shut up or go away or better yet both. You are not the intended audience for this product. Go buy a used computer or something and let us get on with making money.Q: What ever happened to the wonderful spirit of co-operation, learning, history and hope that was prevalent in the Microsoft Flight Simulator series.A: It died with Kiosk mode circa FS2004. Get over it!Q: Will my Microsoft Flight Simulator hardware work with Microsoft FlightA: Yes, if you have a recent popular controller. But first you'll need to purchase the option to use it from the Xbox Live store.Q: What will Microsoft Flight costA: We haven't finalized pricing. Microsoft Flight will be a subscription based game. You will be able to purchase use by the hour at full price, or by the month at discount.Q: When will Microsoft Flight shipA: When we're good and ready! Pipe down! You won't like it anyway, and you'll only complain so we're in no rush.
