  1. Just an update. I am running FSX with the acceleration add-on. No other add-ons yet. I would like to get ORBX PNW soon.I am doing my testing with default scenery, using the c172 out of KSEA during day, with whatever the weather was set to by default.I have done some tweaking and have dramatically improved the performance. I did the Bojote's Shader Moel 3 tweak, as well as his "auto" fsx.cfg tune.I also played with adjusting the sliders to match a tweaking guide I found on this forum(I don't recall who the author was, sorry). Surprisingly, actually increasing some of the slider help out a bunch. I would have guessed less autogen would run better.I was having a horrible flickering on a LOT of the building at KSEA as well as some of the autogen ones. Turning off buildings cast shadows eliminated about 99% of this problem.I can live without the shadows, but the horrible flickering was driving me crazy. In the catalyst control center, I have the AA at 8xEQ and the anisotropic filtering at 4x. with both set to override application settings. With these few tweaks, FSX is running and looking MUCH better.I had the frame rates set to unlimited, and am now getting ~25-50 fps. much better.I have read that locking to 30 may be a good thing to try. Both internally, or leave it unlimited, and use an external limiter. For the most part, I am almost pleased with the results. There were a few times that the scenery started to stutter, but I hope to continue playing with settings until I am happy.I am running at stock speeds now, but plan to over clock in the future. I hope to get to about 4.5 GHz.I would like to thank you for the tips and encouragement. It is truly appreciated.
  2. Here is the build:i7-2600kASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3Radeon HD 6970 2GBCORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB)256GB SSD950wPSUWin7 64bitFresh install of OS, downloaded all the latest drivers.I am a bit disappointed so far with FSX performance.Any help or suggestions on settings to use, or tweaks appreciated.I have frame rates in the low to mid teens. I am not too concerned the actual FPS number, but want to have "smooth" flight, without stuttering.Visually FSX looks bad. Lots of jagged edges on the plane and buildings.Lots of "flashing" lights on the sides of buildings as well.I am hoping that tweaking/adjusting will take care of some/all of this.Perhaps I should replace the radeon with an nvidia card?I want this setup to run FSX very well, with some additional scenery in the future, orbx pacific NW specifically.I also want this setup to run "current" games well. Thanks for the help and suggestions
