  1. "Personally I can fly at 15FPS and I find helicopters like the Dodosim to be perfectly controllable at 12FPS. It's all preferential I suppose"

You are crazy, sorry, I don´t want to be rude, and be banned forever, but the absurd nonsense I read here, time after time, makes me go:

    80P

@OP: Aerosoft is famous for it´s awesome products, which at the same time performs totally un-acceptable!

Enjoy what you have bought, I never did it...

  2. Perhaps it is something for me afterall. Im student so i dont have the economy to buy small packages of expensive scenery. On the GEX pictures you can definitely see an improvment compared to the defualt FSX scenery.

That´s the point, but this doesn´t demand a whole lot of effort, cause FSX default is terrible too!

Mind you, I appreciate the work from GEX, but it´s up hill all the way, because they work with a broken/unfinished FSX.

Have a look at all their threads over at Simforums, all the questions, all the nice answers "no, this issue is NOT GEX (or UTX for that matter) it´s the way FSX was made, Aces did not finish this or that" etc.

When you´ve read pages like that for years and years, and with the next release from them you hope it will be better, but no, no, no, they still work with that broken FSX/ESP engine, and choose the exact opposite direction as compared to ORBX, they are clever, they install their own stuff on top of FSX!

PS: "The nice pictures" you see on the GEX interface/material is probably made from Nick´s own monster set-up! So buyer, beware, if you have a mediocre system..

  3. A few minutes of Googling gave this:

    http://www.simviation.com/fsx_terrainmesh.htm

    - haven´t looked in the Avsim Lib. - but there are plenty of other opportunities to GEX.

UTX is OK, but GEX? NO, no, and no - I don´t know how Nick and Anthony pulled that trick, convincing people this was "da real thing" - no it´s not, it´s terrible...

  4. Let´s have a song:

    "Shine on, you crazy diamond"!

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.

    Shine on you crazy diamond.

Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.

    Shine on you crazy diamond.

You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,

    blown on the steel breeze.

Come on you target for faraway laughter,

come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!

You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.

    Shine on you crazy diamond.

Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.

    Shine on you crazy diamond.

Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,

    rode on the steel breeze.

Come on you raver, you seer of visions,

come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Yep, I´ve lost it, like Syd Barrett...

Why, oh why call IB an upgrade for FSX?

    It´s SNTS

  5. You run FSX on the laptop mentioned in your signature?

Probably normal loadtime considering the massive addons you have.

Where did you install FSX and FS Global?

What kind of harddisk do you have?

Be sure to choose "High Performance" in the Power Options.

Use Gbooster to turn off programs not needed in FSX.

  6. The Asus boards (maybe others) have a simple OC function in the bios,

or a button on the MB, or even via software.

It may not give the highest possible result but it is as simple as pushing a button.

What ever method you decide on it's pretty much a must to get a upgraded CPU cooler .

Yeah, and have your temps skyrocket to +90C in an instant!

Please don´t use that Asus software, ot others EVER!

Overclock is easy, when you take it easy, and read the guides, good luck.

BTW why not get the i7 2700K instead?

    :Peace:

  7. Different opinions, strategies and wallets!

"Last years tech" doesn´t mean it´s outdated, far from it, look at Noel with the Q9650, and I had a Q6600 @ 3.8 before I got the SB.

I prefer a "clever upgrade" - and for me personally it´s not here yet.

    New system? Ivy bridge?

No, I don´t like the temps, and the fiddling with the TIM to get them reasonable, it appears "backwards" to me, coming from the blazing but cool Sandy Breeze!

  8. @ramrunner800:

It´s "shiny new toy syndrome" - nothing else, but that´s OK with me, if people would actually admit it!

The diff. from SB to IB is marginal IMO..

Why should I upgrade now from this?

    Lapped and polished i5 2500K @ 4.7 Ghz -0.35 offset Volt. (Max. Volts 1.35-36)

Max. temps 65-69C with an "El Cheapo" Hyper 212+ cooler!

    BCLK: 104.5 MHz

    4 Gb GSkill RAM @ 1672 MHz - 7-8-7-24 1T

I´ll probably do like Noel, hook up an AirConditioner and really fire up the system!

    :Just Kidding:

BTW: I skipped the idea of upgrading to the i7 2700K, I´ll get a better cooler instead...
