  1. Can an admin or mod maybe explain why the post I started in Hangar Chat 09/19/2015 has not been listed?

Just wonder if I broke a specific rule on hear, tho I am at a loss as to which one.

Speculative maybe but would be nice to have a discussion about it.

    Many thanks.

    Gary

  2. In reality they are both the same device, software, game call it what you will. However some are of the illusion that P3D and it's non entertainment licence gives it more kudos and are, well, living in fantasy land.I have seen one reply recently telling a poster to go "play" with his FSX and leave the serious stuff like P3D to the pros' codswallop. They are the same thing and outwith the obvious improvements in graphics etc then there is really no big difference. Those who think like this are really suffering from "emperors new clothes" syndrome.I feel the  licensing issue was purely what was on offer to Lockheed at the time,I mean were Microsoft ever going to allow another company to piggyback their product at the time when FSX was still being developed?

So train all you like in P3D,FSX,or FSX steam it's all the same. Also play all you like in any of the aforementioned, it is ALL the same. One caveat if you use P3D don't own up to enjoying/Playing it or you might lose some credibility.

  3. Hi guys, many many thanks for your replies and ideas, however I deleted all my FSX folders about a month ago and cleaned out the reg and any old files relating to it. When I try to install, the installer insists on an FSX folder. If I choose the browse option and change to C:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d v2.4 it starts to do it's thing then stops abruptly and says "cannot locate an instance of FSX" then simply ends.

Now I usually have no probs installing older stuff into ver.2.4 but this one has me stumped.

Thanks again for the Ideas though.

  4. Hi Guys/Girls,

Not feeling lazy and believe me I have tried other sites including Aerosoft, but without search function working in here.Has anyone managed to instal Aerosoft Gibraltar into P3D ver 2.4?.

I have their Madeira airport .that now has a p3d installer but Gib doesn't. I currently only have P3D installed on my PC but have seen screenies of Gib running in the Sim but I can't figure how it is done.

It would be great if anyone has a solution.

    Cheers.

    Gary

  5. Good info, though it is a shame LM can't get their act together and do a simple procedure like a patch update without causing so many issues.it seems they don't have the ability like other companies do.

Its a bit late for me now as I just followed advice from one of LMs admins and was not told to do any of the above.

It seems LM are incapable of learning from past updates where similar issues arose.

Oh well here's hoping the whole thing aint completely screwed and I have to start from scratch.

    Very poor service.

  6. Superb stuff, hits the spot on so many levels. You sir are an obvious genius and I commend this post..a copy of which should be forwarded henceforth to all the payware vendors out there.some of whom think we should bow and grovel and accept issues with their software and don't you dare complain or we will ban you.We made it we sell it  suck it up or leave kinda guys take heed.

    Brilliant.

  7. Hey mate I really think you have misunderstood me, I genuinely have no clue to what other sim you are refferring. I see by your tone that you think I  am trying to start some sort of argument, absolutely not my intent. So lets leave it and I will search the web and maybe find an answer there.

    Cheers.

    Gary.

    Thanks for the clarification Mike.

Just on another Forum a couple weeks ago someone mentioned another Sim is in development and He was not referring to X-plane.

As for X-plane being in development thats' been out for ages now...I clearly misunderstood Him.

    Chill guys.

  8. For some more information to get us all excited, FlightBeam just stated on facebook...

"Now that some restrictions have been lifted, we can safely tell you Flightbeam has been participating with Lockheed Martin's Prepar3d V2 BETA, for two reasons

    1. Make P3D v2 better by providing feedback to LM

    2. Make our products 100% compatible.

First off, this needs to be said about some crazy rumors I've been reading...

The folks over at LM are closely listening to FSX customers, and by no means is P3D restricted to non-entertainment customers. I can assure you that the wild rumors about LM chasing out entertainment customers are untrue and most are unfortunately originate from folks who support the "other" simulator platform in development, which I will not mention.

Now on to exciting things... this IS the FSX replacement. Everything said here comes from first hand experience and testing. Just from our screenshot attached, you will see several things already. Dynamic cockpit shadows, native bloom (no performance penalty), and volumetric fog. This is just the tip of the iceberg, LM has extensively optimized the engine and it runs much more efficiently than FSX. ALL your CPU cores will be used. Your GPU/Video card will finally take a beating (I know mine has). LM Engineers have also modified code to better optimize memory management, which also means less OOM. And did I already mention, its now a DirectX 11 engine?

And what better news than this: All our products are compatible now, and LM is expected to release V2 THIS MONTH. "

And if you want to see pictures from V2, they have a few posted on their facebook page!

Here is my personal concern with making the switch to V2. I'm worried that if I do, I'll miss out on a lot of the addons I've spent a good amount of money on. On top of that, I've just finished months of tweaking FSX to run great on my machine, and if I switch I'm also afraid I'll be giving that up and starting over. We'll see but this is the best news I've heard about V2 yet!

Hi there so looking forward to this, however that last part of your statement referring to the "other" sim in development has me intrigued, can you disclose to what you are referring?

    Many thanks.

    Gary
