  1. Ok so about a week ago i posted about building a new pc. Well my wife shot me down. So what i am going to do is try and upgrade my current pc. Where should i go? I want to get more performance out of it. My pc is mainly just for fsx. Would changing out my current phenom 965 BE that has been OC to 3.8 to one of the newer AMD chips be a good idea? I cant overclock past 3.8. Wont get stabel. I was thinking upgrane the CPU, upgrade to a H100 cooler, and a new case. What would be your advice on the next rout to take? Thanks
  2. Hello everyone, I have some extra cash to build a new rig and have some questions. My current PC is not bad but everyone keeps saying I can get more performance out of an intel setup so I wanted to ask is it really worth it? I currently have my AMD phenom ii 965 BE OC to 3.8GHz and it runs FSX with a lot of eye candy and other adds such as the PMDG 747 decent. I average about 16-18FPS on the ground and 28 in the sky with frames locked at 30. Obviously if I switch to Intel I will have to reload everything and start over but I am willing to is it is really worth it. If I do I will sell my current system to recoup some of the cost. So at the moment I have 1200 to spend on a new PC. What would be a good setup to go with. I will be OC the CPU again so that has to be put into consideration. Thanks for all your advise.
  3. Ok so i was doing some work to my comp. I had my phenom ii 965BE overclocked to 3.8 stable. Well my son was running around and bumped the tower and somehow the cpu came loose and now has a crack in it. The comp will still boot to windows but blue screens each time. Temps are wild. I need to buy a new cpu but cant decide on what to get. I know the intel is better but i am sticking with amd as i am already set up for it. So what cpu should i go with? I would like to OC and get into the 4GHz range. My system specs should be in my sig. Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks for the reply. I am having issues OCing. I before I replace my old MSI MB I had the CPU OC to 3.8 and it was stable. Ever since I got my new Asus board I have not been able to OC. Even the slightest OC and the computer blue screens. I have no idea why it is doing this.
  5. Hi, I have a rig I built back in 2009. It has been on a deployment with me to Iraq (did not want to go a year with no FSX) and I think its time to replace some things. I replaced the motherboard about 2 months ago because the old one bit the dust. A few months before this I had to replace the GPU. Got one free from a friend. I have never OC before and I am thinking it is about time. I would take it to someone but where I am stationed I cant find anyone that can do it. So trying to decide if I should replace the CPU I have now and then OC or use the 965 I have. I have a lot of add on's for my FSX and want more performance. Based on my PC Specs where should I go, what should I upgrade? I know intel would be the best route but I really dont want to have to buy a new MB to make the switch so gonna stick with AMD.
