  1. Hello Steve, I am using these drivers with FSX and a GTX 680, only one monitor. I have had no problems with them, they appear stable. They do not offer any thing extra for FSX, over all of the other sequential driver releases that I have installed for the GTX 680. You might like to try Display Driver Uninstaller for Nvidia cards available from Guru3D.com I have no issues using this utility, use at your own risk. Most of us select a fresh custom install from the driver options on the Nvidia driver installer package. http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_uninstaller_download.html Might help if you had some corrupt files left over from another previous driver install, perhaps! Charles.
  2. Amer, When you start FSX note down the airline names of the duplicate objects. Start WOAI in expert mode and remove those individual airlines which are causing the problems. I sometimes start again by removing all models, don't forget you can select multiple packages to install at once, I usually do around 25-30 airlines at a time. When you are using the installer, if you are using Windows 7, you may have to run the installer in compatibility mode, (Win XP) and run as an administrator. My installer gives errors during a multi package install unless I do this . Charles.
  3. Hi Chris, Yes, I have Steve's DX10 fixer and also recommend Add-on Converter X if using DX10. There is a handy utility called AlphaSearcher2. If you experience stutters in FSX it may be caused by missing alpha channels in some textures. This handy utility searches them out and corrects the problem. You can just choose to search without making any changes. It's 100 percent safe. I run it from time to time after installing World Of AI aircraft and airport sceneries. It should be available form the AVSIM library. World Of AI aircraft appear to have some of the alpha channels missing which may result in stutters. Charles. I found this neat utility and posted a link on the forum here, the posting has been largely missed by everyone because of it's benign title. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/442080-jet-boost/#entry2988351 I was searching for an alternative to Ken Slaters Alacrity PC, and consider this to be a safe and worthwhile alternative. It is actually a good piece of software!
  4. Hello Vortex 681 Initially I had a frame rate hit and lost about 6 FPS with high settings within FSX. I dropped down from setting 3 to setting 1 and everything was running smooth. I now have increased the density of lights and lowered my scenery complexity and can now fly from Stansted to Heathrow without problems. Approaching Heathrow, ( UK2000) I drop to around 20FPS. UK2000 EGLL is a complex scenery, I am using the latest version. I realize this scenery will run on any system and it is very customizable and Chris Bell is a very nice helpful guy. I would not hesitate to buy this, Vortex681. Why not try the free demo of Berlin which is available on the Aerosoft web site. FREE DEMO>>>>>>>>>>> http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/79065-night-environment-berlin-demo-free-released/ I love the way the road lights extend to the horizon and gently fade away, it's so realistic. I am using DX10 mode and having fun playing with the bloom effects through the DX10 Scenery Fixer and seeing the effect on my new night scenery. This is a very customizable product and has caused me to stay up to 1am in the morning flying in a darkened room! I have noticed that in DX10 on my system, when on the ground, the orange lights go behind the clouds it's like they go to the background. This is no deal breaker and there is no guarantee for perfection while using DX10. I am sure there is a way of fixing this if you want to be pedantic. Has anyone tried the Netherlands NE with Netherlands free photo scenery from NL2004? I think the combo may look awesome! PDXFlyers comparison pictures look much the same, how strange and I don't see orange lights? I have a significant change in my scenery for the better. I have decided to try the free Berlin demo, downloading now................... Charles.
  5. Please, Vancouver and British Columbia? This looks so real, it's by far the best night lighting available, period! I noticed that the lights can be left on during daytime as they are not visible. The lights can be turned off within flight simulator without interrupting your flight. I was going to buy another product just for night lighting in the UK, this has saved me some quite a bit of money! I highly recommend this product and it's priced just right. Charles.
  6. Sorry, I have just noticed this subject has been covered under Belgium lighting here.......... http://forum.avsim.net/topic/435526-aerosoft-releases-night-environment-belgium/
  7. I have just purchased Night Environment, (Aerosoft) from Just Flight. All I can say is wow! I purchased this beautiful night lighting scenery for just £6.99 with 400 rewards, usual price £10.99. This scenery is awesome, it looks real and lights extend right out to the horizon! The effect is amazing! Taking off from Stansted towards London is quite an experience, you can definately navigate by roads in the dark, I could not do that before. I am using ORBX sceneries for the UK, this add-on adds an incredible extra dimension to the ORBX scenery. The lights remain on during day time and are not visible. Ideally you turn the lights off by using a tool to edit your scenery.cfg file. I have noticed a frame rate hit using the highest settings but need to do some experimenting with tuning. Certainly a big bang for your buck here! Chris Bell and Aerosoft have produced this lighting for Germany, California and I guess many more areas will come. Check out the Aerosoft web site here.............. http://en.shop.aerosoft.com/eshop.php?action=article_detail&s_supplier_aid=13053&s_design=DEFAULT&shopfilter_category=Flight%20Simulation&s_language=english Charles.
  8. Though I am not usually a fan of game boosters, reg cleaners etc. I discovered a nifty utility called Jet Boost. The utility is free and does a great job of closing down unwanted services. I believe this utility goes much further than the other available so called game boosters on the Internet, some of which try to install other c**p wear on your p c while your not looking!. This is a customizable utility and it closes down 35 services releasing a decent chunk of my computers memory, you can edit the .ini file, (I have done this) to close as many services as you wish. It might be worth looking at, Mileage will vary according to each individual. I certainly a have a smoother FSX experience after using this tool. This tool appears to do a decent job of choosing running processes to close which will vary on an individuals computer. I was looking for an alternative to Alacrity by Ken Salter, I was pleasantly surprised with this free no catch tool. http://www.bluesprig.com/jetboost.html Charles
  9. It's working! After a reformat of everything my FreeTrack IR head tracker is now working and it's better than my TrackIR 3! It's important not to use simconnect in the FreeTrack options. I now have a much smoother experience with greater access to the virtual cockpit with this head tracking than I did with my TrackIR. My web cam has a much wider field of view. I am pleased this free software works with Opus FSX. I am using a Logitech 250 web cam with the IR filter removed, when using this camera use the drivers for the Logitech Fusion web cam. The Logitech 250 drivers cause problems with the FreeTrack application causing it to shut down when you close the camera properties which had an annoying habit of popping up when starting the FreeTRack program. Charles.
  10. I found that FaceTrack noIR works with OPUS. I cannot change camera views when using FaceTrack, if I run my NP TrackIR everything is OK and I can change views. I do like the FaceTrack software, my web camera appears to give a wider field of view as opposed to my TrackIR v3. Charles
  11. I have recently been experimenting with FreeTrack head tracking, I own a TrackIR. When starting FreeTrack with Opus I get the following error, "FSXTRACKIR.EXE Has stopped working" FaceTrack NoIR works well with OPUS for me, does anyone have a solution to this problem with FreeTrack? Charles
  12. Run's really well on my i7 system, no stutters and appears to run better than the previous version! I did not have any traffic on the stands though. Default AI was set at 20% but did not see much evidence of traffic. Now installing World Of AI and hope to see some traffic. I did not select the static traffic option in the installer. Charles
  13. I have found a fix for this sound problem, just look for my other posts. I missed this post while posting a windows tweak that should fix the sound problem for most people. Charles Here it is.................... If you are experiencing low external engine volume on a Windows based operating system, please follow the following instructions to fix this issue............ Right click on the speaker icon on the windows tray, (usually bottom right hand corner of screen) Select playback device. Select your playback device in the device menu. Press "Properties" Navigate to the "Enhancements" tab. Tick the check box on "Loudness Equalization" The sound will now be evened out, low sound volume will be increased and higher sound volume will be decreased. "The loudness equalization uses understanding of human hearing to reduce perceived volume differences in Windows 7" ******Your sound card, if you have one, may have this option too*******. The above instructions should fix the sound issues that some people are experiencing with this software. I have had confirmation from one user that it works great! Hope this helps................... 14. Pls find attached my EZDOK profile for the superb Dash 8, I think it's pretty good, the shaking camera effects work well and are subtle. The configuration takes advantage of the Saitek X-52 Pro joy stick. The cameras pan smoothly through some of the exterior camera views, but some are configured to move slowly. Use the buttons (A/B) on the top of the joy stick to move fwd and backward through the views. The © button changes view to exterior camera, pressing the hat up, (switch to the left of the fire button) returns you to the virtual cockpit and the captains chair. The three remaining positions on the hat switch to the left of the fire button take you directly to the OHD/COM/THR/Pedastle views Do not press button © again whilst in exterior view, the camera will go into world view which is not good at all! Edit and adapt this configuration to you own joy stick, use the global gain dial to increase or decrease effects as you wish. This configuration uses some of the more advanced features of EZDOK. Charles WOOPS! Sorry it appears I have failed to notice that I cannot pin files here, the configuration file is available at the official forum, sorry!
  15. Hello IFR7700 I am really pleased that you can confirm what I discovered! I believe the software was released in April 2013. I bought it a couple of days ago my only gripe was the lack of exterior sound. Charles
  16. As far as I am aware, the Dash 8 use's DSP effects which are not tied to FSX. For some people the volume of the engines is so low that they are barely audible in external view. Changing the settings as I advised at the top of this post, does make the engines sound very much louder in external view. I have not noticed any fatiguing consequences on my ears. I never claimed that this was a specific fix to the Dash 8 software, I am sorry if I gave that impression. Charles
  17. Well it fixed the sound volume for me, so it did something! Charles
  18. Hello owners of the Dash 7 from Majestic Software. 19. Since re-installing Windows 7, I no longer have problems with overwriting or updating files. Somehow the permissions for files/folders are ending up in a muddle, it's extreme but a reformat solved the problem. With regards to the tip above, you might want to rename your main FSX folder temporarily to force the batch file program that comes with the shader packages to look else where for your pseudo FSX folder that you have created. Charles
  20. Process Lasso Many thanks for the link to this program, it certainly looks very interesting and will remain on my computer for some time while I evaluate it's use. I would have been more impressed had I paid for this software, it's very easy and intuitive to use! Charles
  21. I have now had three hours with this software. I have seen the light again and removed the program and returned to "*******",(I have not suddenly become all religious!). I am settled now with smooth frame rates and good performance after having an appointment with "*******". I noticed that when I ran the program and used it to start FSX, the software initially caused a huge slow down on my high end computer. The cursor went into slow motion while selecting the options from the FSX menu, it had a mind of it's own traveling around my LCD screen. Once FSX started the problem went away but left me with stutters in FSX. After removing the software the cursor behaved normally and the computer slow down went away. The software appears to make changes on the fly as FSX is starting, it causes a momentarily slow down while on the FSX options screen on my computer. The developer is trying to use a similar method to ******* Bojote by asking for computer specifications before applying customized tweaks to FSX, perhaps they got their inspiration from *******. Charles
  22. There is a new version of this software just posted!. There may be some mileage in this software, I do believe it will help some people to gain some extra performance, some experimentation will be necessary. Will report back after I have given it a thorough run:-) Charles
  23. Great News! FSPS has re-activated my software, I think I e-mailed them initially, this time I used the ticket system and had a very prompt reply, I may have chosen the incorrect way to contact them initially. I will now play around with this software to see if I can get any additional benefits. I think the software might be for the user who is not familiar with tweaking FSX and requires an easy inter-phase to apply their tweaks. Charles
  24. I bought FSX Booster 2013, I very much regret buying this product. I did not gain any extra fps just stutters! The idea with this software is to apply the tweaks that we are all familiar with and to optimize the frame rate slider in FSX to match your FSX settings. As I fly with a frame rate limiter, (Nvidia Inspector) and frames set to 100 in FSX, the software is not relevant to my setup. The software tailors the tweaks it makes to your system specifications, (GPU, RAM etc), the developers are relying on the user to select the correct specifications for their machine at initial startup, I selected the correct specifications for my machine. This innovative approach to the tweaking of FSX is what attracted me to the product, alas I saw no improvement within FSX in the short time I was able to use the software. Unfortunately I had to re-format my computer just after installing this software. I cannot now use the software because re-installing the computer has invalidated my registration code. I have contacted both SimMarket and the developer. The developer is not responding to me, I have asked for the registration to be initialized so I continue to test the software, they have not complied. This is my poorest simulator purchase to date! Fortunately it only cost 7GBP, I am now writing it off as a bad experience. Charles
  25. There is a simple solution to this problem of not being able to update the write protected file and is a know problem with your versions of Windows. Create another directory with the same structure as the folder and files you are trying to modify. The directory should include a copy of your shader files and very importantly a copy of your fsx.exe executable, (the batch file will look for the fsx.exe executable). Providing you have created an identical directory structue to your existing FSX installation, run your batch file and let it seek out the copy of your fsx.exe program and then allow it to modify the copies of your shader files. It may be better to create your copied files on another disk or partition. Simply back up your original shader files and and overwrite. There is an copyright issue here, that's why you have to do it this way. Charles
