  1. I Just read the suggested procedure to safely update P3D. P3D should update the way X-Plane does. I don't intend to take sides here because I run both of them and each has major features that the other is lacking so far. However, LM could sure take a page from X-Plane's book when it comes to updating. X-Plane has been running an (optional) public beta update series for the past several weeks to bring v10.2 up to v10.3. Final version 10.3 was released just a few days ago. X-Plane cautions that if you are going to participate in the beta, or in the final update for that matter, you should first back up your v10.2 files. This is easily done because every file in the entire X-Plane program is located under a single master folder, in my case 40 GB in size, which can easily be copied to another location. This is in contrast to P3D where files are splattered all over your hard drive. The actual update couldn't be easier. You download and run the installer which inspects every file in the program to determine which ones need updating. This is the longest part of the procedure and takes about 10 minutes on my average machine with average internet connection speed. It then, with my permission, proceeds to update the files using 3 servers simultaneously. This typically involves 100-200 MB of data and takes less than 5 minutes. When the down load is completed the updated program is ready to run. The P3D update is downright primitive by comparison,
  2. The image didn't come through. I'll post it again later. Warren
  3. Sorry for the delay; computer problems. This shot shows how two side-by-side lakes can render in entirely different colors. The view is just North of KMCO heading toward downtown Orlando. Warren
  4. gb I expect the colors to be more or less the same in adjacent lakes. The problem is that, randomly, some lakes are blue and other lakes a mile or less away look like pea soup. This occurs, among other places, in Central Florida where small to medium size lakes are common and none of them are greenish brown. I think Sascha might be correct in calling it a landclass problem. If so, LM needs to tweak it because some of the worst offenders are right in their own back yard-just South of Orlando. w
  5. The water in various lakes and rivers is rendering an ugly greenish brown instead of the correct color. Sometimes part of a lake will be discolored and the rest OK. I have recompiled the Shader indices to no effect. HDR On or Off makes no diference. None of the Water settings has any effect, or the time of day or season. I have had this problem from the beginning with v2.0 and I had hoped that one of the updates would fix it but they have not. I don't know how to post screenshots but will do so if someone can instruct me. I tried to cut and paste from my Pictures folder but the paste didn't work. Running Win64 with i5-2500K @3.5 GHz, 12 GB RAM, GTX 760, 2GB w latest drivers. I will appreciate any suggestions because this sure spoils low altitude VFR flying in lake regions. Thanks in advance, Warren
