First thread, sorry if the category is incorrect.
I'm a little new to FSX.
I've been trying the stock FSX 737's ILS for sometime now and I can't get it to work. I've used the ILS with the stock 747 and the CRJ700 with no problems at all.
I'd write down what I do.
Just so you know, vectors are given by the ATC controller at all times.
I get information on the course and frequency with respect to a runway.
I take off.
I enable autopilot (Altitude Hold engaged, Heading hold engaged) and autothrottle (Speed Hold Engaged).
I put in the frequency in the NAV1 standby and switch it to active and put NAV1's switch to active.
I put in the correct course on the course selector knob.
I set the NAV/GPS selector to NAV.
As I near the runway, the morse code starts sounding inside the cockpit.
As I enter the green triangular area on the GPS (The glide slope I guess), I turn on APP, Heading Hold Disengages.
(Since Altitude Hold does not automatically disengage, I tried manually disengaging it as well).
Autopilot does not seem to automatically disengage, and I don't think it should be disengaging anyway.
As soon as the APP switch is active, the plane either starts to veer off in different directions or just continues straight on the same altitude. It never descends on the glide slope. I thought maybe the Altitude Hold switch was the problem. I tried disengaging it with no results.
At the time of pressing the APP switch, I'm always at the altitude I should be at as told to me by the ATC controller (usually between 2,500 and 3,500).
Also, the glide slope position indicator thing to the right of the altitude indicator on the glass display is always at the middle, though it should be deflecting.
Could anyone give me instructions on making this work?
(Trying to do the Amsterdam Schipol - London Heathrow mission, requires ILS)
