Oops! Have to learn the correct etiquette on the forum too! :huh: Just to update the situation, I ended up uninstalling FSX and re-installing it on my remote hard drive. I read somewhere that the default install on windows 8 can sometimes cause conflicts to do with the multi-user framework that causes errors in where and how files are saved in FSX. All is fine now and working perfectly!!

Hello all. I am new to flight sims and to FSX in particular. Having spent many years immersed in different 'shoot-em-up' games and recently the Silent Hunter submarine sim, I thought I'd take a look at FSX after a friend recommended it. Well I can say I think I'm hooked and I've only been playing with it for about a week. Only problem is that I'm having issues with setting up free-flight custom trips. I set them up in the Free Flight section of the pogram, only to find that the flight I plan isn't available in the saved list. In fact none are there to load at all. I am running Windows 8, which in every other way handles FSX perfectly. Can anyone suggest what may be the problem?

Hello all. I have been a sim player for many years but have only just discovered the amazing world of flight sims. As a brand new FSX player I have a query about the Free Flight and Flight Planner feature of the sim. I don't know what is wrong, but when I go into free flight and plan a flight I don't seem to be able to save the flight plan so that I can load it in the 'load' screen. I know I save it because it is on the drive but doesn't appear as a saved flight for loading. Also, if I try to fly the plan from within the flight planner it defaults to Glasgow as the starting point even though I have changed the start and finishing points. Is this a common problem? I downloaded the patch last night but it didn't have any effect on this. Any suggestions? Othe than this the game runs perfectly on Windows 8.
