This is a stupid question but I haven't been able to locate an answer. In vc, is there any way to quickly snap to user- defined views? I can use the hat button to pan about, but it is slow and cumbersome. It seems that the defined snap commands in the keys list are disabled in vc. I'd like to be able to define certain vc views that I can quickly toggle back and forth between. In the 2d cockpit, the hat button can snap to quick views (left, right, etc), but I obviously prefer vc.

I picked up my PPL last year in a 172 and started using fsx for the same purpose. The flight1 172 is the best I've found so far for fsx. But it's not perfect. I think it stalls, glides, floats, and flares incorrectly. It's better in other stages of flight. And the instrumentation is awesome in all the aircraft. I also have x-plane 10 and think its default 172 is better than the fsx default 172. There is a free x-plane 10 demo and you can buy the north american version for the same price as the flight 1 172.
