  1. Oh, absolutely! I was able to install Ultimate Terrain and Ground Environment as well as a few other past purchased "doo-dah's" without too much issue. Sadly, I cannot get my DreamFleet/Flight1 177RG to install, but I still have it in my Windows XP desktop that is sitting on the floor collecting dust, so I might try to get the HDD out of it and copy over files from the Aircraft, Gauges, etc. folders and see what happens. I have no idea if it'll work, but I do miss flying that one. Oh well. I'll be honest... I purchased FS9 when it first came out. I moved onto X-Plane 9 and 10 when I purchased my iMac. FS2004/FS9 is - in my opinion - a far more "enjoyable" and "immersive" simming environment, with the add-on's I purchased. Just last night I was flying around Alaska in a C206 amphibian and the fall textures were loaded, etc. That is something I could never get X-Plane to do well, even with aftermarket "stuff". Also, I really missed the FS2004 air traffic and com radio chatter. It really is just plain "fun", some of the most fun I've had on a computer. One big problem I had with X-Plane is that I was almost entirely unable to fly genuine "dead reckoning" using natural terrain features in Alaska without maxing out my hardware with orthographic drama. With Ultimate Terrain, I am doing just that and my frame rates are so smooth it is mind boggling (keep in mind I am using a 2012 era HP EliteBook I purchased "renewed" off of Amazon, Intel HD3000 chipset plugged into a docking station and a 24 inch monitor). Thanks again Pits, take care and a happy holiday season! Cape
  2. Hi Pitts, et al... Please forgive me, but I have figured it out and it's all my own fault. Please keep in mind that I had not used FS2004 in some time (I used X-Plane for many years more recently) and - I hate to admit it but for the sake of another person coming along with the same issue - I thought it might be wise to remember to KISS. Yes, it is true folks, I - (i di ot) number one - had simply forgotten to try the power button. Oh my. Insert face palm moment here. Thanks Pitts, I will admit that I never expected anything to work correctly after reading all the negatives out there between FS2004/FS9 and Windows 10 prior to install. Believe it or not, I am now not experiencing any problems in the sim at all and my frame rates are THROUGH THE ROOF! THis is the most fun in the simulator I have had in YEARS. Thanks again all, sorry for my silliness. Cape
  3. Well, hahahah... Considering the lack of response, perhaps I should ask another question here: Is the behavior of the GNS530 as I described above what everyone is experiencing in FS9 using Windows 10 Home and there is no hope? OR is it the exact opposite, am I the only one experiencing this issue? Thank you for your time folks... Regards... Cape
  4. By the way, the Garmin GPS Map 295 works exactly as expected in my Carenado 185 and 182RGII aircraft. I would be satisfied with this unit as a popup slaved to the AP in any of my other Carenado aircraft, if possible?
  5. Hello folks! Well, I moved up from Windows XP to Windows 10 Home last week and have FS9 running like a top in almost every regard, save one. I cannot seem to get my Carenado aircraft with the 530 GPS to display in the panel (neither cockpit nor virtual cockpit). The panels are there, but they do not have any power. I know this is not just affecting Carenado aircraft as I have another from Flight1 that is doing the same thing, a panel spot for it but no display showing. I am wondering if it has something to do with the fact that Windows 10 is 64 bit and perhaps the 530 cannot operate in a 64 bit environment? I wonder if any of you have gotten this to work correctly, and if so, how this came about. As an alternative, I would happily use the 430 or whatever GPS can be connected to the AP in these aircraft (such as my Baron 58, 208B or 210). I would love to hear if it is either possible and how to do this or impossible so I surrender and quit trying to alter panel.cfg files, or downloading things from the file library. I also found this and have emailed them regarding this product but have not heard back yet, anyone with experience with this? http://simflyer.net/content/?page_id=10 And will it work in my premium aircraft with Windows 10 Home? Thank you for your advice, suggestions, good news and bad news... :) Regards... Cape
  6. Hello folks... Just installing FS2004 again, got tired of X-Plane sucking framerate down so often and thought it would be fun to fly the old standard again. Having a blast! However, I think I distinctly remember having a laser light show on the face of Grand Coulee dam in the scenery at some point. If I remember right, it would activate only at night? Does anybody have any idea of that which I speak? I have looked over the internet and the file library here but only see one Grand Coulee dam file listed and it doesn't reference a laser light show at all. I am hoping somebody with the knowledge can point me in the right direction to grab it again and share it with my wife who holds fond childhood memories of the show's beginning in 1983. :) Thank you for the guidance, if you can provide any. Have a wonderful evening and best regards... Jason
  7. I wanted to thank everyone for your guidance. I appreciate your time and information. Have a splendid rest of your week...
  8. Hello folks... I have a bevy of questions, as I have just finished the Homeric epic called the X-Plane 9 install on my iMac with i5 processor and 12 gig of RAM (in Mac OS X). After what seemed to be hours, I have got her up and running. Neat looking so far, glad I finally decided to install it. I have had the 6 DVD set for some time but chose not to install it since I have always been a hardcore MSFS9x (FS2004) guy. So much so that I have spent hundreds of dollars on add-ons. This was back when I was younger, more foolish, and richer. Regardless, I got tired of rebooting my machine into the Windows XP Bootcamp partition so I gave this a go. Like I said, I have enjoyed several facets thus far. However, I am plagued with a few issues that are annoying the heck out of me. First and foremost, I am a huge fan of "virtual cockpits" in FS9, which seem to be the same (or similar to) 3-D cockpits in X-Plane. I was glad to see that I have the option to use the 3-D cockpit. HOWEVER, I really need/want to back out on the panel some. Geez, I feel as though somebody is shoving me from behind into the windscreen. Is there any way to "move the seat back" so-to-speak? In MSFS I would simply "zoom out", but that command is doing nothing in the Cessna 172SP. Next, I would like add-on scenery for Oregon, the western U.S., the mid-west, etc. I prefer freeware for now (as all of my lucrative financial days are behind me!), but would consider payware, should all of you suggest it highly enough. Third... Add-on GA aircraft... I'm a prop head, any suggestions on where to find GA aircraft, like Maules, more Cessnas (177RG?), Gippsland GA8, Pipers, etc.? Again, preferably freeware. Thanks for trying to get me settled in here, I am enjoying X-Plane 9 right now and hope to make it my first choice sim in the near future.
