  1. For the purpose of preventing others from going through similar headaches with voice recognition and audio software I've posted my findings below: Applications such as VoxATC and FS2Crew, and Voice Attack, that use Windows Speech Recognition will not function when an audio controlling software is running, such as Asus Sonic Studio. It is because of the mic input being handled by Sonic Studio, that's as far as my knowledge allows. Somehow it prevents a USB mic from working too. The good news is that there is a work-around that doesn't require uninstalling Sonic Studio. Instead: - Choose the settings in Sonic Studio that you want for the sim, (equaliser profile, surround sound, headset/speaker output etc). - Close the Sonic Studio and then exit the program in the taskbar - your settings will be saved. - Launch P3D and check that the audio settings are correct, start scenario. That should solve the problem without losing the benefits of Sonic Studio. DO NOT open Sonic Studio with P3D running as this will cause a 'Fatal Error' in VoxATC.
  2. I'm waiting to hear back from Asus to see if I can order a control box switcher to plug into the card. I opted for the Strix Soar instead of the 'pro' but I could really do with the control box now. I bought the soundcard because I was dissatisfied with the sound quality I was receiving.
  3. So, I'm left with one significant problem....Changing from headset to speakers..... There seems to be no way to have voice recognition in P3D with Asus Sonic Studio. My sim pc is used for multiple tasks and games - games such as Elite Dangerous that work very well with the Asus software - and I frequently switch between headset and speakers. With both plugged into the soundcard I cannot switch between them without the software. I therefore have to uninstall the Asus Sonic Studio to use P3D and install it again afterwards to be able to switch from headset to speakers and use its features in other games. Does anyone know if constantly uninstalling/reinstalling the same software is problematic for the pc? Will this cause registery issues etc? Is there a better solution? Thanks all.
  4. !! UPDATE !! It works! The problem was Asus Sonic Sound Studio (version 1.1.21) which I uninstalled, restarted pc and P3D now runs with Vox and FS2Crew working correctly. A slight increase in FPS too! The only problem now is windows cannot switch between speakers and headset connected via the Strix Soar soundcard. So I shall now try and find an updated asus soundcard software that will work with vox.
  5. Yes, I've tested the audio output in FS2Crew Airbus Pro which is playing in my headset (3.5mm jack in strix soar sound card) but both left and right come through as one channel from FS2Crew for some reasons. But I doubt that has anything to do with the speech rec issue. I tried trouble shooting into the small hours this morning but to no avail. I did manage to find the advanced settings for speech - I'm definitely on windows speech recognition 8.0 US English. FS2Crew manual states that the checkbox for start on startup must be unchecked and the Windows speech recognition must be closed when running the sim. I have done this. Still no luck. Oh, as I have not run the vox panel program since installing the airbus and FS2Crew there shouldn't be a conflict. I'll head to FS2Crew forums as well to see if Brian has any ideas.
  6. Thank you for such a quick reply Kevin, Yes, tried both UK and US English settings to no avail. Yes, the inbuilt speech training worked fine. Installed FS2Crew to see if that will work but it doesn't respond to anything I say.
  7. Hi all, Hope you're well. I desperately need help with this please! I have spent the entire weekend trying to get VOXATC 7.43 to work with P3D5.1 on Windows 10, Asus Strix Soar 7.1 soundcard, mic and headphones. The system is: i7 - 3770k RTX 2080 super 16gb ram VOX is NOT networked I have US English set up in the windows 10 speech recognition settings and have mic selected on both sonic studio (soundcard) and as default device in windows. The windows trainer and the vox flightplan train both work properly. I have tried using a USB mic but same problem. I have also installed the Microsoft speech SDK 5.1 but still no use. Of the little information I did find regarding this issue either does not apply in my circumstances (i.e. I tried it) or the solution is not posted. I'm pulling my hair out over this, especially after paying the significant price tag. I look forward to your suggestions.
  8. I have the exact same problem. Did you find a fix for it? Documentation isn't the clearest.
  9. Just thought I'd share this... http://textron.vo.llnwd.net/o25/CES/cessna_aircraft_docs/caravan/grandcaravan/grandcaravan_pim.pdf It's the complete, hugely comprehensive operating manual for the C208B. It answers a previous question - the condition lever is left at high idle during flight and only moved for ground operations. Carenado seems to have done a good job on the physics.
  10. The door manager works perfectly, thank you. I'm amazed that a software developer refuses to make their product do as it is described prior to purchase, that's illegal! On another note though, I'm flying at altitudes best for wind direction; I'm currently running up and down the UK delivering all manner of things with Air Hauler. It's great fun. In reality I am a student pilot in a Piper Cherokee PA28 and absolutely love the bird! Engine is blantently obvious in the real prop, never been in a C208 mind. Thanks again, you are a true gent!
  11. Thank you very much, I'll try it out later and let you know how it goes. You've been answering this issue for years right? Thanks for still having the time to help. Chris. Just another note if you wouldn't mind... I'm currently flying the Super Cargomaster and cruising at FL150, just wondering if you could say just how far back the mixture lever should be? Throttle is full open and prop is about half way.
  12. Hi Jim, You probably guessed I too have fallen for the trap of buying another half-developed premium add-on for FSX. I am a keen aviator working towards my PPL and enjoy a realistic simulation. However it seems that you must spend hundreds of pounds to make FSX similar to the real thing. Anyway I have tried to find a fix myself but to no avail; please could you send me a link to the working doors manager you created for the C208B? Much appreciated.
