  1. Ignore the above it was my global texture resolution set to low. All is solved except for the mystery of slider going to low
  2. I don't where to begin to sort this, i am running FSX with ORBX England and REX on an i7 laptop with GT640m Nvidia graphics card. I am using the FSX provided Cessna G1000, in all cockpit views anything other than the screens and dials are blurred. The aircaft settings are set ultra high and 3d, i have had perfect cockpits prior to a forced reload of FSX Gold. I am not too sure at what point the cockpit has failed, but i have had 20+ fps before with terrain and REX so i don't think it is the hardware? I have changed fsx.cfg with the Venetubo tweaker. I don't know where to begin to fault find any help appreciated.
  3. Thanks again men, i must clarify the laptop is for mobile use since i spend a few evenings in a hotel each week. if i get back into it i will invest in a decent desktop for home use. i must admit other than the aircraft and airfields which are clear the terrain etc looks to be a bit of a minefield so i shall have mooch around youtube a bit longer. thanks for all the ideas it is appreciated/
  4. Thanks again gang, and there was me thinking ORBX England was the way to go. Any thoughts on REX or is that a processor drain too far?
  5. Thanks for the comprehensive responses re software, I feel slightly deflated about the laptop situation though. I thought 4 yers on the hardware had advanced sufficient enough to get a good result from FSX? Has anybody calculated at what processor speed you need to get FSX and add ons running maxed out, or is that another 4 years away? Thanks again gang.
  6. Thanks Mosteen, the idea for the laptop is whilst I am away each week but yes I will be prepared to be disappointed. Uk2000 Manchester is on my list but I will streamline my add ons to suit good visuals. I must research the cfg tweaking as well.
  7. B747-400 if I can get near this I would be happy, this was done on the laptop I am considering. You are correct my expectations are high but I guess I can compromise.
  8. Hi I am a returning FSX simmer and I think I have got the hardware sorted. I have decided to go for a ASUS laptop N56vz which is core i7 with dedicated graphics nvidia gt650 at 2gb. I am aware of the advice of putting FSX and it's add ons on a dedicated drive which sounds like good advice. However the lappie only has a single drive. What I am thinking is using an external ssd connected via a USB 3.0 to carry and run FSX and it's add ons. Anyone any experience or advice please. Regards Pete
  9. I have decided after a four year break I have decided to give FSX another go. I have pretty much decided on the hardware which will be a ASUS N56vz laptop with i7 and dedicated graphics. As for software things have moved on considerably so what can you recommend for mainly UK and Europe. I will leave crossing the pond till I get going. I will probably be asking for utopia I.e. good frame rates and good eye candy. Catching up I would like few passenger aircraft B737, Airbus? Some quality airfields? Scenery I have tried vfr but wasn't too impressed any other recommendations? ORBX? Rex is it worth it or does it drain resources? Traffic? I'd like some realistic aircraft on the ground any suggestions? And how do I get all that ATC chatter? A big list but I am sure looking a postings and videos on YouTube a lot is possible. Thanks in anticipation. Regards Pete spotting in North West England.
