Texture Issue
Bert, I did a reset of my NVIDA configuration and the problem cleared. I did a reset to a default configuration and then increased my configuration options to what I had before the problem and my scenery issues cleared. Looking back, I had a video driver update embedded in one of the monthly Microsoft Updates. That update may have caused the problem, but I don't have enough data to point at it being the sole reason. Thanks Tom

Texture Issue
It appears the approximately 82% of the scenery is loading. I hit the scenery refresh option 3 or 4 times at various stages of the flight and the scenery status bar completed at the 82% mark each time. Tom

Texture Issue
Problem moves throughout the sim. I noticed this morning that when I load the sim, it appears that it is not loading completely. That is after I load, select an airport/flight plan and begin the flight, the texture problem begins. If I select the alt key, to change a parameter, I see a grayed out information box in the middle of the screen. It may be the original load box you see when you first load the sim (weather, texture, traffic) but it appears that something is either not finishing its load or that the box is just hanging up after it completes. When I later go back to the alt key the box no longer shows, but the problem still remains. Tom

Video drivers were updated in early March, no problems at that time. Checked the video card settings and everything looks fine. Thank you for your advice Tom

Texture Issue
Mel thanks for your input. With the exception of two lines my terrain settings mirrored your settings. The differences were terrain max vertex level 19/20 and terrain extended radius 4.5/9.0. I updated my fs9.cfg to match yours, but the problem still remains. I also renamed my fs9.cfg file to let the simulator rebuild itself, but the problem still remains. I took my computer into a repair service to run a better virus scanner, but they found no virus issues. I thinking about reloading FS9, but I was really hoping to find a better solution. Currently my version of flight simulator totals close to 60 gig. It will be a major task to rebuild. Before I take it down I'll need a plan on putting it back together. If you think of anything else please post. Tom

Texture Issue
I have been away from Flight Simulation for about three years. When I first fired up the simulator everything was just as had last used it three years ago. Everything ran fine, textures were what I considered perfect, I had no issues. But, I couldn't leave things alone. Since I had some minor surgery on my ankle and my movements where somewhat limited I again started into the heavy usage of the program. I wanted to be as real as I could be, but I needed to get back up to speed. So I ran a couple of flights and got my bearings again. For my textures I was running Ground Environment 1, but I also had a copy of Ground Environment Pro II. I elected to uninstall GE1 and installed GEPII. Everything worked great! I was running RCV4, GEPII and heavy AI aircraft without any problems. I have I5 processor, lots of memory and a decent graphics card. There were no problems. Then something happened. My texture ring around my aircraft (site lines) somehow became greatly reduced. I don't believe that I am seeing more that 2-3 miles at 4000 feet before a I get the blurries. I made no changes to my FS9.CFG file and I had left my scenery setting alone. I reinstalled GEPII, but the site lines remained the same. I reinstall GE1 and the site lines remained the same. I ran defragged my hard drive, and even ran a program that looked for duplicate textures, still the problem remains. I shutdown programs in my windows startup, cleanout cookies and temp files. Its been a while since I trouble shot problems on my sim. What else should I be looking at to resolve the issue? Tom

Is there a tool?
Sorry that I have not responded to this post until now. I had an unexpected trip out of town. I am going to try to look at the problem again this coming week. Thanks Tom

Is there a tool?
Bill, the location of your problems are very similar to mine. My problems began when I updated Whidbey Island with MIAW AI package. This is not saying that the package caused the problem, but I began to see the problem after that change. My problem is located from Whidbey Island to the north to McChord to the south.

Even with the problem, by avoiding the Seattle area, I have virtually flow around the world with my sim.

Jim, changing the AI traffic to zero has no effect on the problem.

Joe, I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with a I5 processor and with the exception of some of the Mega Airports my load time is within seconds in all other regions. In the area of the Mega Airports I still load everything (all sliders set to full) in 10 to 15 seconds.

My term crashing is that the sim hangs and does not load any of the scenery files. I have never seen the blue screen of death with my current system.

Years ago there was a program called Flight Sim Manager that could check for duplicate files and other common sim problems. I know that the software to longer is maintained. Is there a similar freeware/payware program that provides similar features?

Jim and John, I'm still working through your posts.

To everybody, thank you for your help.

Tom

Is there a tool?
I loaded a default aircraft at another airport away for the region and after it had load I attempted to select the Seattle airport. I watched the load scenery screen sit idle for five minutes (0% loaded), hit ctrl/alt/delete and the message was that Microsoft Flight Simulator is nor responding. Over the years in that region I have had a number of different sceneries, Fly Tampa Seattle, the river gorge scenery, a couple of Seattle addons, MIAW, etc. I have backed out everything one piece at a time, but I still can not locate the problem. I may just have to bite the bullet and rebuild the sim. Is there a good game plan on rebuilding. This will be my 5th or 6th time going through the process, but I have been away for a couple of years so I'm not certain what files can be save and replaced later. Tom

Is there a tool?
I can no longer fly over the Seattle area without crashing my system. Is there a tool or a process that can guide me in restoring that area or should I plan on doing a rebuild? My current sim weighs in it over 38 gig so I would like to perform a fix versus a rebuild. Thanks Tom

Help Needed
Tom, Everything is now working again. The only problem that I am having is that the site loads very slow. I'll work on fixing that tomorrow. All other sites that I visit load vey quickly. I should be able to get one to do the same. The problem appears to be in an email that was sent to us by one of my wife's friends. It was colorful, funny and contained a virus. The virus caused by computer to run very long scripts, but I believe that I have that repaired now. Tom

Tom Thank you for the help. Things have gotten better, but it appears that there is something running in background on my computer. I'm still investigating. Tom

Help Needed
No matter what I do, read a post, search for a post, change to a new page in a forum, change to a new topic, basically anything, my user information gets dropped and I have to resign in to the activity. I am a previous member, but I have been gone for a couple years and I reregister because I change my email account and internet provider. d I have been using my new user ID for a couple of weeks and everything was working correctly until last Monday (July 1st). Is there something that I need to redo? No matter what I search for it tells me that I do not have permission for that task. I am trying to get help on using the PMDG MD-11 through their forum under FS9. Please advise. Thanks Tom

Final Approach Questions
Thank you everybody for your help. Normally I clear flaps, spoilers and auto brakes after a landing. Prior to my move I had simple check lists for of the major aircraft that I flew. I just never developed one for the MD-11. Also, during my research of my problems, I came across a great article on the PMDG Knowledge Base that shows the differences between the Boeings and the MD-11's. Again thanks to everybody. - Tom

Final Approach Questions
This is my third attempt today to respond to my own post. I keep posting but nothing shows up in the forum. I did complete my trip from KMSP to KTPA. I made a couple of minor adjustments on final approach, but I came down without any real issues. Upon landing I forgot that the AP is controlled from the yoke, but I'll remember next time. I did have a problem after rollout. I was unable to move the aircraft forward after it had come to a complete stop. Is there something that needs to be reset after coming to a complete stop? Would the auto brakes hold the plane in position? - Tom
