  1. Hi all! I'm Alex, recently moved to Chicago for a new job. Unfortunately, this means I had to abandon my old setup, but the plans have already started for the new one. I'm looking for help cutting and constructing MDF in the next few weeks for the sim as I don't have anything in the way of tools or facilities to do it all myself. If you are interested (I can provide modest remuneration for your time and effort), PM me and I'll send you an email/text/call so we can meet up. Even if you are a new comer to flight sim or have no idea about flight sim at all (or family/friends/relatives are good with carpentry), no worries, drop me a line! My old setup was basically a full cockpit without being fully completed, I'm looking to do a more professional job this time. It's using two computers running P3D multichannel, two large 55' screens for visuals, and six touchscreens for cockpit displays, an autopilot plus the usual assortment of yokes, pedals, and throttles/flaps/spoilers. Thanks in advance, Alex
  2. Excellent to hear about P3D multi channel compatibility!!! Will this be retrofitted into the NGX and T7? Alex Brand
  3. Sorry, I don't want to sound pushy or rude, but does PMDG run with P3D multi channel and will I need two licenses? Multi channel is not like wide fs. It runs multiple copies of P3D in parallel, with the slaves not needing to be activated. I already know I need two licenses for ASN, one for each separate setup. Is this the same for PMDG? Thanks, Alex Brand
  4. Excellent. But will I need two PMDG licenses? Forgive my ignorance, but I thought wide fs could only be used to run utilities on networked PC's, not the simulator itself...? Cheers Alex Brand
  5. The feature of the pro plus version of P3D, allowing you to run the sim over more than one computer, with one as the 'master' computer and others as 'slaves.' This will allow me to have one rig running the main sim functions, with others running visuals on projectors as well as other views and cockpit items (ie have one dedicated to running a touchscreen monitor overhead for an overhead VC display). http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv3/LearningCenter/multichannel/multichannel_overview.html I've had a little play around with it and the default Baron, inputs to the aircraft only worked on the master but were reflected on the slave, which is fine, I can deal with that. But that's the default Baron... The idea is to have one machine driving my 'cockpit' via multiple VC views split over several monitors (which is easy), and the other running scenery visuals. Cheers Alex Brand
  6. Morning all, Someone is planning a major upgrade to their setup in anticipation of a certain product seemingly soon to be released...no prizes for guessing. Before I sink thousands into it, can someone riddle me this-do PMDG products function fine within P3D Pro Plus, do they function fine within a multichannel environment, and am I going to need two or more licenses? I assume the answers, in order are yes, don't know, and probably, but is someone who know more than I able to comment? Thanks, Alex Brand
  7. Haha (re the flight to the Bahamas) it was nice knowing you. Taking a scenic 1500km over the desert tomorrow, talked myself into a twin...I've decided I value my life. Re the NGX crashing, I think I've narrowed down the issue. When pro atc autosave, it of course generates a pmdg panel state as well, and something isn't quite right with it. It is corrupted in some way. Does this often and for long enough that simconnect stalls and times out. Upon reload, it loads up the corrupted state and I get a simconnect timeout on next autosave (takes too long) and it's good night from there. So fsiupc autosave is still the way to go. It's a shame pro atc won't work properly. Alex Brand
  8. It does seem to be pro at related, in particular pro atc autosave related. With autosave off I have been able to complete flights again! I'll have a forage around on their forum too see of any other reported issues. Many thanks, Alex Brand
  9. No driver to update-it seems everything is in order and updated. Something I was quite suspicious of was pro atc. I haven't NG'd since installing pro atc (mostly T7, RJ's and legacy 73's). I had forgone FSUIPC autosave for pro atc autosave since installing, and that may well have been the culprit. I did a flight without it and no issues, a nice smooth flight without the obligatory 10 or so second freeze during autosave where I pray simconnect doesn't time out. I hate not using autosave (gives me undue anxiety at every non standard noise, and that's saying something, I feel comfortable flying single engine pistons over open water as my day job), and can with everything else on the sim except the NGX it seems. Is there a way to see what the issue with pro atc autosave is? Or a way to isolate weather it is the problem or not? Alex Brand One flight may be a fluke- I'll try again in the coming days.
  10. I'll perhaps try updating the video driver.

  12. To elaborate a little further on circumstances, it usually happens 30-130 miles from destination. When I reload the flight to last autosave, the NGX does its load thing, finishes with no active route or crz alt, all freezes for a while (~1 min, except for the standby instruments, they work at 1fps) then resumes working (except I can't put a crz alt into the fmc, that also causes CTD). I then fly the star, do the approach and it'll freeze between 5 and 10 feet off the deck and not come back. I have Linda, pro atc, asn, a flight logger, ai traffic manager and external raas programme running independent of flightsim, and in the sim, ftx au traffic, ftx orbx stuff, and an airport afcad. It all looks stunning, the system is super stable and smooth all the time, save for stable when the NGX is running. T7 works fine.
  13. Evening all, Having a consistent issue where it is literally possible to complete a flight without P3D crashing. This only happens with the NGX, and if I get through the whole flight without a cash, it will without fail CTD in the flare without fail. Infuriating not being able to complete a flight. This issue has survived multiple reinstalls and resets of the sim and computer. Ideas anyone?
  14. No idea what I did but the flightsim gods have taken mercy. All is inexplicably well and working again.... Thanks for your help in any case!
  15. Thanks for the prompt reply! I only started to reinstall linda/FSUIPC etc after nothing was happening and I had exhausted my patience. W10=windows 10. email on the way. Cheers, Alex
