now I didnt expect to hear that just from 1 shot, But""" I told ya So""" comes to mind. It is a different sim with GEX and the granite faces are amazing, but there seems to be not much more different, except maybe less tree's than global and maybe framerates. I have really noticed a better fps with GEX desert looks good, bit more hilly. Where is all the green that people were talking about?

now thats what I mean, the granite is just amazing in GEX. I love the mointains. thanks for the post. Can you say where and when so someone with Global can give us a shot at the same place? have to do better. try this one to see the ground textures.

Rob I have no idea about DX10 and no-one answered you, but while I was researching I found this: " GEX is fully DX10 compatible and they even tweaked the texture lum and colors to really SHINE in DX10 mode,.". being an Old fogey I have absolutley no idea what it means. The others will jump in and tell me hopefully. Without Michael to ring and ask stupid questions I am a bit lost, but I gather lum is short for lumenis? and therefore something to do with lights? I have done a bit of night flying and the lighting seems to be great on fps and on eye candy,,,but I prefer to see the Granite faces Before I feel them and so stay mostly day and dusk time. I am the opposite, I have to run unlimited or 99 or I get bluuries, also I need to keep at least 1000ft above ground level on a fast flight to allow the textures to load. say we use the new 172 and forget framerates, just check out mountain, valley and ground?

Kaboki. Before we start putting screenies up we need to establish some parameters. Different settings, sliders, Jpg, same plane? that kind of thing, other wise we are comparing apples to oranges. My poor pld pc is running a 27in monitor as main and a 15in for the MFD, a 10in for the PFD and a 7in U-Propit, then she runs 2 other pcs in network to run flightsim commander, skype, TS and PlanG3 on 1 and Widgets map and internet on the other. quick foto made with phone: now in Orbx my sliders are Autogen Normal and Scenery Complexity to Extremely Dense. In GEX I run AG Extremely Dense and scenery at Dense. So I will be seeing a hell of a lot more on the ground in GEX than I would be in Orbx. My sim settings while taking Screens: If we go to innsbrugg LOWI and fly to a spot, take a screeny, convert to jpg and post with pos, framerates and what the time and season, day and so on is, do you think that would work?

Robains, I hve had the same sim since god know when, I have flown a lot and have travelled a lot. Before and after I travel I fly it on my pc, But with only default GEX, UTX REX it wasnt that great. Now with the new GEX, it is something else, not real life but hell, after going to a place with only deafult scenery and old GEX to going to that same place with the new GEX it is a 100% improvment,, I am going to go revisit all those places again to see what it looks like now with the new textures( if the misses doesnt divorce me from spending too much time locked in my flightsim room) I have been flying since FS5 in 98???? too old to find a new wife... Thats is the 100$ question, I know that GEX runs great on my old pc, and I know that orbx Australia kills my old pc, Orbx PNW with a few airfields with the 3d grass turned off is flyable and Orbx Alaska is great. Global I have no idea, but these boys will tell you tht is also great, but how fast is thier/your pc? GEX I can Plug as being no framerate hog but as stated I am biased because havent tried Global yet. Any Unbiased old pc types out thier with Both on their pc? Now I have to ask, you have never had a tree on the runway or taxiway within an Orbx area with a dedicated Orbx Airport???

Change the A2A172 elevator setting in the aircraft config from 2.0 to 0.5 to get to act like a real plane, what friction prob is there?

If something is goed enough to make it onto my primary flightsim pc, and it is kept there for any length of time then ok. I will eventually try Global on my seconday test pc but, only after I have followed it a bit more and am satisfied that they have fixed the bugs. GEX I didnt need to wait, I had it already and it was sanctioned by FSGS to be kept upto date even tho I never did, I was busy flying around Bluesky area's, PNW, Tongass Fjords and Alaska. Now GEX has changed the Default scenery into something I never seen before( on my old pc mind you) I can honestly say that my interest in the rest of the globe has been spiked and places that I have visited in my travels and flown over here in europe have had a lot of visits in the last 2 days since GEX Europe went in, also without hesitation or pre-try, just bought and installed. Trusted product.I have seen the screenshots but dont believe any fotoshopped stuff you get on websites( GEX or Orbx), I prefer word of mouth and testing myself. Tree's on the runway are usually overcome buy putting orbx at a higher priority in the scenery config, but not always. Yes tree's on runways and taxiways are a big prob with orbx when first installed, A bit tweaking mostly fixes it, if it dosent create a prob on other area's. I think If you have a totaly Orbx setup it would be less, but so many different sceneries and regions in 1 sim is always going to be a prob with priority given to where you want to fly next.

I have never, in this post or anywhere else, dismissed Global, I happen to have tried every product that Orbx has ever bought out, but I only ever bought a few. Hence my long interest in Global and hesitation in buying it before I was certain it was worth it. I had a copy to try but since my mate wouldnt install it niether did I. Gex on the other hand was not a copy but a bought product and because I have had it in my sim since it first came out, trusted, Because I was watching Global I didnt realize GEX was a free update until told by my mate and I drove up to check it out before buying it( updating and buying the next after updateing). apart from that no ulterior? motives here. You?

appology accepted. It is 21,05 here in holland and I have just had a warning from the misses that I have only been downstairs for 10min to eat and then I go back up to my flightsim room every day since I put GEX in, and if I want sex again in the future I had better get off the pc and back into life. So I am in the living room next to the misses watching tv playing on my laptop, tomorrow I will boot up the sim again and try and make some screenshots to post. Kaboki, do you have shares in Orbx or some financial interest in pushing it so hard?

ok, well it worked. After being scared into getting a free update to GEX and seeing how good it is, I am now buying more of it.
