  1. Hello,

I am trying to increase the LOD value without any visual effect.  I have tried both Terrain Level of Detail and Objects Level of Detail, moved the sliders down to 20 and back up to 200 and still the trees end maybe 1 or 2 miles away from me.  I have also tried to edit the Uercfg file by changing the LOD value to 2 or 4 or 6  without any change in the game, it is like it is stuck on one setting and it cannot be changed.  It does change when flying on monitor but not in VR.  I am definitely changing the settings under VR and not PC

Any help on this matter would be great.

    Thanks,

    Bart

The HP Reverb G2 started shipping today and I definitely remember Asobo saying that they'd have VR ready in time for G2 release.

As far as I know, no one has even started closed beta testing of VR.
I guess they're running behind, which is understandable, but they maybe shouldn't have claimed that the G2 shipping (which was delayed anyway) was their hard date to deliver VR.

I'm now wondering if we'll see a public VR release at all this year.

The wonders of marketing, my friend.

Looks like a nice light sport aircraft. However, we have plenty of those already. It's pass for me

Exactly.  How about something bigger like a Turbo Commander, C441, PA 31 Chieftain.  I know a2a are working on a nice twin but lets face it, it's years away from being available.

All I am saying is some verity would be great.

    Cheers,

Im sorry did you say fantastic, exactly what is fantastic about this update, because i fail to see it.

Exactly!  Just more jibber jabber about the same thing. "we will fix this, we read, we listen" that's all!  Not much new at all.

They haven't even started on the weather, the LOD issue's!! But I understand that most of their customers are people who just grab an xbox controller and fly overt their house, not hard core simmers like us.  Hence they fix what will appeal to the bigger market share.

But at least they read and listen to us...We hope. So lets be optimistic.

    Cheers,

    1. Where did this information come from? Did Asobo put out info post release somewhere?

    2. If after release, this is to me, great news. As I've said, I didn't expect this product so soon anyway so hearing that something is in the works and getting a date for fixes (assuming we'll hear what the majors are) is something I can easily wait for and have fun reintroducing myself to basic seat of my pants flying again. With this scenery, that will not be such a terrible thing. It beats not having the app at all and just wondering what everything will be like.

It's in the 20th of August update Thread

Sitting literally 5 minutes from KBJC, thunder and lightning outside and within the sim it's few clouds at FL120. This really is an amateur hour from Asobo, hopefully this will get fixed with the patch on the 27th.

The patch is not coming on the 27th. We will be told on the 27th when the patch will be released.

    cheers

Apparently John Venema of Orbx is currently listed as a 3rd Party dev and is assigned to a 3rd Party Developers Group with a few others on MSFS forum. He also has access to Tech Alpha 1. Quite interesting as they havent made any official announcement yet.

You can view the complete list of 3rd party devs here

He had full knowledge of the new sim from the beginning, you can tell by his silence on the matter at hand.  A few other marketing and development decisions  also proved that point.

All this is understandable, Microsoft wants the best developers and he is one them.  Has (by accident???) good knowledge of True Earth scenery develpment behind him!

You just have to learn to read between the lines:)

  8. For me too VR is a must.  2 years ago I put my VR goggle on and I was hooked.  It is strange that the new flight sim wont have VR support at launch!  Very strange, I think it is due to the fact that the hardware required to use the new sim in VR with good frame rates (remember VR requires a lot more horsepower then monitor flying), is a few years away.  MS knows this and is therefore waiting for that time to come (hardware catching up to power VR flying) before they release a VR component for the new sim.

The assets look much more like Orbx if I'm honest. It wouldn't be a great suprise if Microsoft asked Orbx to produce scenery to iron out any implementation issues with the SDK. The assets are far too high quality to be standard game assets so I would bet with a high probability this was the fruits of there labor. If so I wonder who else is producing content for the sim...

Plus the very big silence from John Venema regarding the new sim seems to point that he is in fact somehow associated with fs2020.  He is probably under an NDA but I am willing to bet he is involved.

  10. Hello everyone,

I am using a devise called "X-Keys" as a programable button board. Simply assign a "ctrl shift l" or "ctrl n" to a button and when you press this button that's what the pc reads. Works perfectly well with the previous Queen of the skies and all other aircraft.

However, with the new queen there is a problem where the queen doesn't read any ctrl or shift functions from the board. (Example "ctrl shift F is simply read as F). The aircraft does read them correctly from the keyboard. I have checked this with previous queen and it works just fine, reading the assigned keys the way I programmed them from X-keys.

    Thanks for your help
