    I have this issue. Do you have a fx_smoke.bmp file in FSX/Effects/Textures dir? I didn´t have it. I solve this issue with application "gauges_recovery_fsx.zip" and only restore the missing files. The file appear now in dir and this issue solved for me. I hope this help.
