    Feedback after a while using WAMA in MSFS2020 from Sim market:

    Here are the features that are working and extremely useful:

    • Can save the position of any aircraft and it works reliably.
    • Can switch to a saved aircraft without initialization problems in many but not all aircraft.
    • Can pinpoint exactly where your aircraft is on Google Earth maps.

    Those three features alone are very important for me.

    If it were possible to switch aircraft without involving the loading screen that would be icing on the cake.

    With the arrival of the Parallel-42 Juice Goose for MSFS2020, we finally have a superb way of driving from the airport to our overnight accommodation!

    Being an old WAMA P3D customer, I thought I'd fire up WAMA for MSFS2020 from Sim Market and give it a go!

    Here is my feedback:

    What it does do!

    • Save the position of the current vehicle without issues
    • If the position is in a parking spot, the "I want to fly this aircraft" option will load the aircraft in the saved position in a cold and dark state. Excellent!
    • If the position is not in a parking spot, the engines will be running (Would it be possible to tell the sim that the current spot is a parking spot to enable cold and dark?)
    • The Google Earth Live and static mechanic is brilliant. You can immediately compare your position with Google images and street view in the real world!

    What it doesn't do. There are a lot of things not working. Suggest cutting back all the stuff that doesn't work and is not needed for basic functionality.

    The critical missing features are:

    1. If you try to leave your current vehicle and enter the default vehicle (so for example leaving your plane to enter your car), it will send you to the middle of the ocean.
    2. If you want to select a saved aircraft and "I want to fly this aircraft from my current position" it will send you to the middle of the ocean.

    Desirable features not included or working:

    • If you use drone view to walk from your aircraft to your car and get in the car and then "I want to fly this aircraft", WAMA will CTD because you are not in cockpit view.

    Thank you for at least uploading the beta of this product. It is still very useful in its current form. There are work arounds even if nothing is updated on WAMA. You can save your aircraft position in its parking bay using WAMA and instead of using WAMA to switch to your car, you can use developer mode which works perfectly.

    Hi there

    At airport SLTR navigraph subscription in the Milviz 310R.

    This bug at unusual airports happens so often I have to report it:

    1. I get IFR clearance from ground all goes well
    2. I taxi to runway as instructed all goes well
    3. I ask for and get IFR release from tower all goes well
    4. BUG: tower tells me to contact center when airborne while I'm still doing pre-takeoff checks on the ground
    5. BUG: tower does not tell me I can depart and doesn't give me current winds
    6. BUG: I ask tower anything and tower doesn't respond
    7. BUG: If I don't switch to center on the ground, tower keeps telling me to contact center (not airborne yet)
    8. So I switch to center on the ground to shut tower up and takeoff by my own discretion.
    9. BUG: when airborne before contacting center, it tells me to contact approach already.
    10. Rest of flight goes OK

    PLEASE NOTE that on this logged flight I didn't try step 6 since I already know from past experience it is hopeless trying.

    I was inbound IFR on the RNAV 04R for Chandler KCHD in the 310R. The wind needed the opposite rwy 22L which has no procedures. I needed to do circle to land and the chart indicated it as possible.

    Problem is I didn't know how to express this intention to approach or tower in P2A which was going to land me on 04R with unsafe downwind/crosswind conditions in my opinion.

    I'm in VR so don't want to use the P2A interface, just verbally do the circle to land.

    After a long process of trial and error I found the cause of the severe stuttering I was getting on a 9700K 32GB 3090 GPU in VR.

    Autogen and scenery draw distance should not be turned up higher than MEDIUM in VR otherwise there is a risk of periodic severe stutter.

    The strange thing is that it is not dependent on any other setting. For example I could turn autogen densities to sparse and it would still produce the stutters. I tried all sorts of things such as reducing the number of cloud layers reducing the shadow quality reducing the frame rate or traffic etc etc.  The stutter was so bad at times I thought it must be I conflicting application in the background.

    Just that one slider fixed it totally. I can turn everything up and it'll be smooth as but just not that one slider. You can turn that slider right up to max and it will work now and then but you can never be sure that you will suddenly be struck with this stuttering that's why it should be kept at medium.

    Update on the crash I got using this setting MAX_TEXTURE_REQUEST_DISTANCE=320000.000000. After I fixed the bug where no clouds were showing I've had a few flights without issues on the 3090 and I think the CPU is working less hard during descent. It's a great setting if you have got the vram to spare although it didn't seem to use that much more thanks a lot.

    Hi rob thanks it was set to 0. CPU and GPU loads are around 50 to 70% with temps roughly the same. If I set it to default I have no crash. 

    i am in the middle of chasing this bug:

    so maybe the two bugs are related because of texture loading.

    I fly the same route over and over again practicing IFR so I will report back if I discover why it crashed on MAX_TEXTURE_REQUEST_DISTANCE=320000.000000

    Had the same thing happen to me on almost same spec machine and Reverb 1. Not 100% sure how I fixed it but at least try these two:

    - switch "hardware accelerated GPU scheduling" to off in windows 10 settings

    - default all your nvidia GPU settings

    - also make sure that no overlays like windows game overlay (win-G key) aren't running

    At some point the problem disappeared from my system. A week ago I was getting headset stuttering tracking my head movements. It would happen in P3D or not. Wasted my time reinstalling WMR, SteamVR etc. Turned out defaulting all the Nvidia GPU settings fixed it.

    Since the latest versions of either SteamVR, WMR or Nvidia drivers (not sure which), not only does pre-render no longer work but also I'm getting stuttering even on the desktop whenever the CPU is slightly busy. It has to be a threading bug. (System 9700K, Reverb, 2080TI, 32GB, W10).

    Thanks Robmw glad you got it going. CumulusX as an addon works even better in v5 than v4 because the general performance of the sim is better. Thermalling in a tight turn produces less stuttering. It is important since I do the gliding in VR. CumulusX even works in Enhanced Atmospherics mode but it tends to hide the CumulusX clouds a lot which makes thermals harder to spot.

    The only problem I haven't solved, wonder if you have, is that even though I have a registered version of CumulusX I can't find a way to get it to display "CumulusXDLL true" in the debug menu. I think the DLL used to be an asset that CuX used in DLL.xml to fix a bug that existed in Vista and Windows 7 but it isn't technically needed for us in later versions.

    The best fun I'm having right now with it is to use Simlogger as an addon to replay recordings of real world flights that pilots have uploaded to OLC gliding website and then fly the same task over the same scenery with the playback running and compare results. Simlogger is still an amazing app.

    Let me know if you need any information on anything to do with gliding in P3D. I still do a lot of gliding in it and will continue to until MS2020 produces a better thermal simulation than CumulusX.

    I had the same problem P3D doesn't switch over automatically to VR on wireless.

    Assuming you have got Virtual Desktop working and are playing other games wirelessly on the quest-2

    • make sure SteamVR is already running
    • start P3D
    • enable SteamVR in the menu when in the cockpit on the 2D desktop screen
    • short click the button on the left controller for the Quest-2 that has the three lines stamped on it. This will bring up the Virtual desktop menu
    • select switch to VR in virtual desktop then it will cause P3D to switch to full virtual reality

    How does the compression artifacts manifest them and overall how is the image lower quality. Is it glaring ? For example in some reviews of the HP G2 Reverb (an alternative considered) it is said that you don't need to lean forward to see the instruments which is the case with other headsets. Is this the case with Q2 ?

    The compression over wireless degrades quality a bit depending on how good your router is. You may have 5G but that doesn't necessarily make it a good router. A good router has extra dedicated processing. People on wireless gaming tend to go for dedicated routers and the developer of Virtual Desktop that makes this all possible has said this himself. But if you are getting it to work good!

    The image quality on a Quest-2 over a dedicated quality wifi5- or 6 router is much better than Oculus CV1 comparable with a Rift-S but not as good as a Reverb. Instruments in GA aircraft are readable. You have to lean forward a bit to read the really small text. All depends on how good your GPU is too.

    5G router quality varies a lot. It isn't just that it is 5GHz but fast routers also have microprocessors inside to efficiently process the data packets. The easiest way to tell is to use Virtual Desktop which can show you statistics about your connection speed and latency.

    The only other thing is whether the VR software either WMR or SteamVR automatically changes some settings when a different headset is detected. You'd have to go through all the settings and verify that they are identical for each headset.
