Which PC for fs2004
Thank you Appliance for your helpful advice, I will certainly look to install this patch. Flight simming is something my Dad and I did back in roughly 1999 with MSFS98, but only 18 months or so ago took it up again with fs2004. It is absolutely mind-blowing the progression it has undertaken, there is that much to add with aircraft and sceneries etc. that I think FSX or further is a long way into the future. We still have so much more to explore and try yet, despite having a pretty impressive 'hanger' of aircraft and good scenery. Thank you all once again. Charlotte

Which PC for fs2004
We are looking at upgrading our PC, as we have been running Fs2004 on quite an old but good desktop PC for a while now but we are torn between two choices and wonder if anyone could aid us in our decision. The first PC is a Acer aspire TC-705 i7-4790 Quad core 3.6GHz 8gb, memory 12gb, graphics AMD Radeon R7-740 2gb And the second is a Asus M51BC Amd fx8300 processor 3.3GHz 8GB, memory 12gb, graphics AMDRadeon R9 255 2gb. I would like to hear any opinions on these pc's, particularly on how well fs2004 is reproduced on them, as this is all that we use use it for. I understand there must be some limitations as to how good that the game will get as it was created so long ago, so it would great if anyone could offer their opinions or comparisons on these two pc's. Thanks in advance Charlotte

wingview panel.cfg edit
I wondered if anyone might be able to tell me what each of the numbers does in a typical wingview configuration, so that i can alter them to fit all of my planes. To show which bit i mean i have copied an example that would give three wing views to the Vista liners B727 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_WINDOWS=35 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_ZOOM=0.31 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_EYE=-1.1, 0.45, -26.00 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_DIR=-2.0, 0.0, 290.0 VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_WINDOWS=34 VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_ZOOM=0.31 VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_EYE=2.1, 0.45, -26.00 VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_DIR=-2.0, 0.0, 70.0 VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_WINDOWS=33 VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_ZOOM=1.21 VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_EYE=-1.1, 0.15, 2.00 VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_DIR=-2.0, 0.0, 200.0 VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_WINDOWS=32 VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_ZOOM=1.25 VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_EYE=2.1, 0.15, 2.00 VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_DIR=-2.0, 0.0, 160.0 VIEW_LEFT_WINDOWS=33 VIEW_LEFT_ZOOM=0.31 VIEW_LEFT_EYE=-1.1, 0.45, -20.00 VIEW_LEFT_DIR=-2.0, 0.0, 270.0 VIEW_RIGHT_WINDOWS=32 VIEW_RIGHT_ZOOM=0.31 VIEW_RIGHT_EYE=2.1, 0.45, -20.00 VIEW_RIGHT_DIR=-2.0, 0.0, 90.0 I've had a go at a couple but it would be better if i really knew what each set of numbers did. Thanks in advance Charlotte

Vista Liners?
Thanks for your help the altimeter is now where it should be in the cockpit and looks great, but I have looked at the panel.cfg for the cockpit views and they match exactly to the bitmaps, so it looks like this isn't the problem. Do you have any more suggestions as to why the windows are blacked out? Thanks again Mel for your help. Regards Charlotte Ps. Which folder in the directory (fs2004) would I put .xml files, the download is a complete aircraft.

Vista Liners?
I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with a couple of things. Firstly, i have downloaded Vista Liners Boeing 737 400 Base Model and added Fabrizio Beretti's B737-300 analogue panel fab733an.zip available on flyawaysimulation.com, (which I have used before with other models) the 2d displays fine but there are no cockpit side and rear views, there are windows but they are blacked out, is there a way to fix this? I have looked at the panel.cfg and it reads exactly the same as in the other models that it displays correctly in. Secondly, is it possible to add this Air Malta texture to this model, download file mtb737_4.zip again on flyawaysimulation.com, even though it doesn't say for vista liners? I tried to add the texture to the model but my efforts were unsucessful. Lastly I have downloaded and added to FS, LAM airlines Mozambique, file 7372MOZ.zip and the fix 7372fix2.zip, the cockpit is quite a good one but the main Altimeter is missing. Is there a way I could amend this? Thanks in advance Charlotte

I'll give it another go. FS is installed in the program file. It should be easy, have done much more difficult add-ons than this! Charlotte

Thanks for all your replies up to now, i have recently retried this freeware air florida and still can't get it to appear on my aircraft list, even though it is in the aircraft folder and sound folder etc. as it should be, any known problem for this one for vista users? as that is my os and sometimes it doesn't work for everything i have tried to do. thanks in advance Charlotte

No Aircraft listing?!
I had recently tried to install Air Scheffel AS738 by the autorun function on my pc not realising until afterwards that you need to do it via the 'run as administrator' way when installing it to os WinVista which is what i have. Subsequently it caused the aircraft initialisation failure Cessna Skyhawk 172, not allowing FS9 to run. i looked for advice on how to solve this, knowing that an uninstall/re-install is not the way to do it, and read that it was advised to run disc 1 and take the cessna172 from the MSGAME1.zip file using WinRAR to read and extract it. i did this, now the aircraft initialisation failure has gone but there is only Cessna 172 listed on the change aircraft section of the Create a Flight page. nothing else listed at all. i have looked in the C/..../Flight Simulator 9/Aircraft page and everything is still there including add-ons, but it is not showing up when i start fs9. Please help? :(

Firstly I am a registered AVSIM library member and have downloaded from the site before. It's not the downloading itself that I can't do it's the adding it to FS9 that I can't seem to get right. The readme explains to add two of the gauge files and a sound file first to the relevant sections but then it doesn't say what to do with the rest of the files, have tried it a couple of different ways but it just wouldn't have it. I have heard of the Tin Mouse and will eventually get round to that one too, just wanted the Air Florida one first though and don't like to give up on what looks like a fairly straightforward one to add. Also thank you Vickyj20 for the link to the Eric Cantu model with the Air Florida repaint I shouldn't have any problem adding that one, but the reason I wanted the one in my question is because it has the relevant cockpit rather than just using the b737-400 default but it will be a nice addition anyway. Thanks Charlotte

It is the Air Florida B737-287a listed under FS2004 Original Aircraft. The author is Jordy Buijs, it was added on 10th May 2010 and the no. that comes up when you view the ZipDive is 147431 and the Internet search bar reads as this http://library.avsim.net/zipdiver.php?DLID=147431. Sorry for being so vague, thanks for your response. Charlotte
