  1. Tried everything - but have now taken the coward's way out. Got a GTX780 today, FPS are better than never before (as to be expected). Getting good 40+ with all sliders cranked to 11 and compelx scenery + aircraft - very smooth. Could not be happier!
  2. 1. Yeah, as I said, I even did a complete format + reinstallation. 2. See 1) 3. I did find that tweak and was hopeful that it would also fix my problem, sadly it didn't. I'll probably start looking at a 780.
  3. Hi, I've recently replaced my ancient GTX 580 with a new Radeon R290...I've never been a big fan of ATI/AMD and haven't purchased a single one of their GPUs in the last 10 years, but had hoped that this generation would fare better. I know about the problems FSX has with AMD GPUs in general, but did not think it would be this severe. I've spent the last days applying every .cfg tweak known to man, tried all kinds of different Catalyst drivers but cannot wrap my head around this issue. Performance was pretty decent (though not aweseome) running my Nvidia and I had hoped that I could achieve an additional increase...but think again. Complex add-on scenery where I used to get a stable 30/40 fps now leave me at a mere 10/15 (!) FPS. Simply unplayable. The new Radeon has been excellent with all recent games (which was my primary reason for the purchase) but this decrease in FSX performance made me pop the GTX 580 back in to compare...as I thought that maybe my CPU was finally kicking it or that there was some other issue causing the FPS drop (I actually re-installed Windows as well), but my suspicions were sadly confirmed: performance was still markedly better with the 580. Is anyone else running an R290? Maybe there's something wrong with my GPU itself? Any help appreciated!
