  1. It was my Real Terra Haze preset. Disabling RTH fixes the problem. I guess I just need to play with it until I find something that looks good and does not mess up the cockpit. Specifically the "Obj (cockpit) gamma" setting under the lights panel will cause very hazy glass at any setting other than 0.
  2. Flying the Carenado C172 v3 in X-Plane 10 in the evening or at night is very difficult because the windows are not very clear. They impart a heavy grey tint to the view which makes detail very hard to see. Here are some screenshots to illustrate the problem: Carenado 172 at night showing problem with windows: http://i.imgur.com/OIabv1q.png http://i.imgur.com/Xr50dQK.png Outside view for clarity comparison: http://i.imgur.com/Ez5mfcA.png Default X-Plane 10 C172 showing much more clear windows: http://i.imgur.com/SCoAFQ4.png Does anybody else have this problem in X-Plane? Is it a bug in the Carenado 172? Any thoughts on how to correct it?
  3. Thanks for pointing it out! Shouldn't I be able to communicate my intention to do pattern work to ground/clearance before I taxi?
  4. Ah, I missed that setting. Thanks for the help. When requesting VFR flight following perhaps center should wait some time before asking "Would you like to request a new altitude". As soon as I requested it kept repeating that on a loop. Sorry for my ignorance of ATC procedures (still a lot to learn) but shouldn't there be a way to communicate that you are forced to deviate from an assigned altitude to avoid weather rather than just requesting a new altitude?
  5. I would like to request to take off and do touch and gos in the pattern for practice. I don't see an option to request this in the grammar screen. Is it possible in the current version? Will it be added in a future version?
  6. After requesting VFR flight following on a brief flight from KAGC to KLBE center endlessly repeats "[callsign] Would you like to request a new altitude?". Center asked me to climb to 5,500 but that is in the clouds. My VFR flight plan is filed for 4000ft. Requesting a lower altitude fails with "Your requested altitude is below the minimum for your route" even though there are no obstructions anywhere near that high. Requesting *any* altitude does not stop the loop. The only way to stop the "would you like to request a new altitude" loop is to fly to the assigned altitude even though that puts me in the clouds on a VFR flight.
  7. Prepar3d isn't a consumer sim unfortunately. At any moment they could begin enforcing their licenses more strictly. They could be forced to do so by whoever the new rights holder is to the FS brand. Prepar3d is nice but I think the legal grey area makes it iffy as a platform to invest in and rely on for the future. X-Plane on the other hand does not have that issue and will be a stable platform for the future.
  8. So E3 is over and no announcement. I am just going to fly X-Plane since it is the only actively developed consumer sim. Why bother with all this speculation over a dead platform when there is a really good actively developed one?
