oh so I should disable even the default scenery of hong kong?
-
is there a name for the patch or perhaps even more helpful, a link?
-
So I was landing at Kai tak with the MD11 the other day, and while doing the IGS and already turning, I discovered that to my horror, there were many buildings, but one of them was really tall, like really really tall and from the textures I believe it was a default building. I narrowly missed it and landed poorly.
But that said, can anyone try to raise some points as to what caused the issue and possibly provide help?
-
ok so for vhhh07L it says 12467 in my wpnavapt
what do the numbers represent? feet? Any decimal places involved??
-
just heard that AIRAC cycle 1503 is released, will that solve the issue?
-
does anyone have any suggestions?
-
It would've done it right at the flap limit speed, too. That doesn't mean it's good, or right. If you're not using proper procedure in one area, I'm betting you're using improper procedure somewhere else, which could be causing this.
If you want a plane to behave realistically, you have to treat it realistically.
Your speed clearly shows below the VREF marker. We're you using the Flap 25 marker for a Flap 30 landing? I mean...the fact that you're clearly ignoring the plane here kinda tells me you're ignoring other things, too, which could be the cause of your issues.
I have NOT misused the plane or used it unrealistically.
Vref is 119 (speed on the AP panel) for flaps 30 and I am clearly in the right speed range
my speed is clearlu

<p>
That's a pretty poor picture, to be honest. I mean, I can see most of the major things are covered - gear is down and flaps seem to be a in a landing config - but taking a picture/camera with a phone is a bit backward. The sim comes with a default screenshot button. Just hit the V key...
Concerns:
- Your selected speed is below your VREF. If anything, it should be at least 5 above it.
- Your INIT REF page isn't displayed, so I don't know what flap setting you've selected to see if it matches.
- Based on the picture, it's hard to tell, but it seems like you have add-on scenery that isn't lining up with everything. That isn't going to cause it directly, but it could be an indicator of another problem causing it. It could just be the odd angle you have things set at.
Vref is 119 with flaps 30, the autoland worked fine and the plane did flare and land on the runway

there finally a more decent photo of me landing at VHHH and of the malfunctioning alarm
-
I am so close to getting a screenshot guys
I was trying to land at VHHH at 07L with ILS but the game crashed at when the jet descended through 1360ft, then my gaming time is over =_=
It also implies that my computer is now running but perhaps not for long
-
just wanna ask if I got the fmc to load for runway 27L but I am landing on say, 9L, will the terrain warning sound
(a question out of pure curiosity)
(still havent got the computer running)
-
well of course I do know that there is a terrain override button
But I do want to know a long term solution as I know that the problem is existent in many airports
-
does the term "terrain look ahead warnings" refer to the terrain radar?
but when the terrain warning sounds, the radar lights up immediately...

Go to Navigraph and purchase a cycle or a year and use their FMS Data Manager (free). Here: http://www.navigraph.com/
I'm not buying the claim that navdata has anything to do with GPWS.. I used to think it did but I was convinced otherwise a couple of weeks ago. I'd need proof.
well since you claimed that downgrading your AIRAC cycle (navdata) from 1502 to 1408 have solved the problem, hence I think the newest navdata, which may have came from the installation of the 777 itself, may have been at fault.
-
Then may I politely ask how does one install an AIRAC cycle?OK, problem SOLVED!!!
No more false alarm terrain in aproach. Don't ask me what does it has to do but,I reinstalled the AIRAC Cycle 1408 and everithyng works good now. (for me at least). I don't say that this is the solution, but now return all to normal, without false allarm in cockpit. And I still think that the GPWS airport database is reading from FMC database.

•Do not use the look-ahead terrain alerting and terrain display functions within 15 nm of takeoff, approach or landing at an airport not contained in the GPWS terrain database.
Can you elaborate on this sentence?

I am glad to have someone, who have also encountered this troubling issue to share my worries with and I do hope that a solution, either it is in the form of an update or something else, is in reach or available in the near future.
Moreover, if it is possible, can MarkII also help to get us a screenshot of the false terrain alarm during landing as I could not, due to the fact that my computer has malfunctioned, as I have mentioned before.
-
Same here.
Cause it happens only with the T7 it has nothing to do with anything but with the T7.
I suspect the fix is easy but so far no one seems to have found it.
I will monitor very close this thread because the terrain warning is very disturbing during a landing.

I apologize profusely as I have mentioned before my computer has malfunctioned and I am already trying my best here. I havent been able to start my computer since then.

sorry this link is right ignore the one above
I apologize for the poor quality of the pic
you can see the runway lights and the GPWS warnings with pull up on the PFD
the terrain radar also lights up yellow
-
You didn't mention if gear was down and flaps in landing configuration. That's important.
yes they were
Flaps 30, autobrakes 1, spoilers armed
Wouldn't some screenshots be of help?
my computer was malfunctioning at the moment
I am typing this on my phone
moreover, is there a way that I can put screenshots here? cuz I cant find a button that says it can do this
-
anyway it seems that my altimeter was set up right and it did provide me with the correct altitude
BUT THE PLANE JUST KEPT SCREAMING
Any insights or similar experiences?

The other day I was landing 30R at OMDB in the 300ER. Terrain calls all the way down the glideslope.
Guess who forgot to set there altimeter at transition altitude.
Just saying
I am interested by this reply.
may I ask how do u set the altimeter at transition altitude?

by the way I already reinstalled the 777, so I'm really running out of solutions
