  1. Not sure that is the case anymore. Earlier, if you bought airports from the marketplace, external apps like LNM, GSX etc would have trouble reading those files due to the encryption, but I've had no such issues so far. On the GSX discord, someone mentioned that the encryption hasn't been a problem for few months at the least. Not sure about aircraft or other types of products.
  2. In-sim ATIS is probably your best bet, but this also helps https://flightsim.to/file/42731/aiflow
  3. Might as well open a ticket with support then. While MSFS as sim is great, there a lot of things that can be improved on microsoft's part.
  4. Does the product show up as purchased in your content manager under the uninstalled tab ? If it has, then it won't be an issue downloading whenever you feel like, but if it hasn't, then you need to open a ticked with msfs support. I read somewhere else, can't recall where exactly, that if it doesn't show up as purchased, you can click on buy, but when cancel/close the window when it redirects you to the external page. On a personal note, I've yet to have any issues purchasing from the store, but I usually use the buy option, and download it later as download speeds are terrible.
  5. LNM (linked by turbomax above) is little nav map, more of a map than a chart application. Once you install it, set the location of your community folder, and then scan the scenery library. Then if zoom in on any particular airport, it'll show you the layout that is present in the sin, as opposed to the latest ones on the AIP charts. It works offline just fine, the maps won't load as they're downloaded from OSM, but navdata and airport layouts will work without any issue as they're stored on your machine. if you have a valid navigraph sub, you can update the navdata to the current cycle too.
  6. You can use LNM to see the actual layout of your airports as they are in the sim, but the taxiway names need to correctly set in the BGL file. Aivlasoft EFB used to do this too, but not sure that's maintained anymore.
  7. MSFS is a very temperamental piece of software. Last year, there was a period where it crashed on final approach every single time. I just left it alone as none of the usual troubleshooting steps was working. After a few weeks, without no change in the sim it started working without any issue. Sometimes, when I do get CTDs, I delete the scenery index folder, and restart. Then choose a different aircraft and airport while loading into the sim.
  8. chartfox.org provides the airport charts directly from the AIP of various countries, even FAA.
  9. Not in any version available to the public. If you check the github for the fmsv2 status, RNAV approach has been implemented, but that hasn't made it's way into any version available to the public. I'm hoping it will make an appearance in the development build in a few months.
  10. Hello, Looking for a new 1440p monitor. Current rig is a 7800x3d / 7900 xtx build. I was wondering if there was any preference if I was going to use the PC mostly for sim use, occasional gaming and working with spreadsheets. I've always had IPS monitors for the last few years, and was never really satisfied with the how dark cockpits looked. OLED panels are out of my budget, as only the absolute top end models have been released here so far. Is color reproduction and black smearing that much worse on VA panels ? Also, do Ultrawide monitors have any advantage when flyiing other than a larger FOV ? If I were lookiing for a curved monitor, what is the curvature that is comfortable to use ? I've seen as low as 1800R to 3200R. Some monitors which I've been considering 1440p IPS : Acer Nitro XG272U V3, Acer VG271U M3, Gigabyte M27Q 14400p VA : LG 32GB650, LG 34GP63, Gigabyte M34Q Some of these may seem a bit old, but that's just how the market here in India is. Only the top end models are released the same year as US releases. Mid range and budget models usually take some time before they find their way here. Thanks
  11. Planning on a 850W PSU from Asus (Loki). I was looking at the Cooler Master and Corsair 850W ones, but pretty much all reviews said that they were fairly louder at even medium loads. VR isn't the primary aim of this build. Just getting a steady and smooth frame rate with good aircraft and add-ons. I'm leaning towards the AMD option as the 3090 has DLSS 2 which isn't as good as DLSS 3, which is what the current gen supports. That was my line of thought as well. Which is why I was looking at either the 3090 or the 7900xtx, both with 24GB of VRAM. If Meteor Lake was coming out, then it'd probably make sense to build an Intel config, but the current LGA 1700 socket will be obsolete next year when they release Meteor Lake next year. AMD will have at least one, hopefully two or more generations of upgrades available for the same socket.
  12. The 7900xtx does get better raw performance in most cases, and they're almost toe to toe in 4k. I'm wondering how much will DLSS help in that regards as 4k/60fps is still not guaranteed at max setting.
  13. Hello, Building new sim PC. Starting from scratch, since old hardware is pretty old at this point. Just wanted to get a 2nd opinion on the planned parts. Current gen NVIDIA GPU prices are just insane here in India, so I can either get a new 7900xtx or a open box 3090 in my budget. Another thing I wanted to confirm is does RAM speed really matter for MSFS ? 6000MHz kits are fairly reasonably priced, beyond that prices increase exponentially. Will this build be good for VR as wel? I don't have a VR headset yet, but definitely want to get one if it can run on this hardware. CPU - AMD Ryzen 7800x3d GPU - AMD 7900 XTX / RTX 3090 MoBo - Gigabyte Aorus ULTRA 670E RAM - 32 GB G.Skill CL36 DDR 5 kit. SSD - 2 x 2TB Crucial P5 SSD, 2 x 4TB crucial mx 500 SSD. Cooler - Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Case - Lian Li O11 Mesh / Lian Li Lancool II mesh Cheers P.S Building a new PC after almost 5years, so please feel free to mention anything I may have missed.
  14. Hello, I'm building a new FS pc. Need help finalising the GPU for the build. I'm in India, so prices are in INR. I can either get an Asus Strix 3090 for 70k or a Sapphire Nitro 7900XTX for around 105k. Is there any advantage to getting one over the over ? Both are within budget tbh, I'm just curious if NVIDIA last gen DLSS has any significant advantages over current gen AMD. Cheers
  15. I would install FS9 again, but cant find the discs. The only place FSX is available now is Steam ?
