Yes, I run the training operation at my VA where we run VATSIM Pilot Rating courses, from basic PPL-style stuff through to multi-engine/instrument training and, eventually, jet 'type rating' training, all using shared cockpit technology to deliver one-on-one training pretty much in line with real-world syllabi.
Definitely one of the most rewarding, if occasionally challenging, things I've done in the sim and I thoroughly recommend it!
This is actually really fascinating to me. Are you able to train pilots who are not in your VA? I would be really interested in this, as I have had a break for going on almost 4 months....I keep wanting to get back into the sim but the draw of shaking off the rusk is keeping me out. I've been simming for 8+ years, it think it would be nice to still try out one of these sessions. Are there any links you can provide?
