  1. Hi, I'm trying to train on the G1000, however, and I may be wrong, but the DA40 that I'm using doesn't seem to have the full functionality of the G1000. I thought that I might able to use the RXP GTN 650 to couple to the G1000 but that doesn't seem to work either (like it does in other aircraft like the analogue C172. Is what I'm trying to achieve possible? Cheers, Herc.

Just start her up a go fly....

Ok, thanks. Looks like I'll have to delve into the FMS a bit more then. All good learning though.

Just start her up a go fly....

Hey all, Like so many before me I guess, I've set up a sim to help with 'real world' flight training requirements, i.e. I recently renewed my IR with the help of FSX and the RealityXP GTN650. Probably saved me hundreds of $$$ of actual mistakes in the air. Great tool. So, the next step for me is to do some airline interview prep in the 777. Just straight forward stuff really, T/O, Climb, S&L, Medium Turn, Steep Turn, Idle Descent, ILS and landing. The issue I'm having is my throttles keep going to idle in the climb to 6k. I've read a load of stuff now about this being a potential config issue, with various resolutions. I've also read mention of the FMS set up, and this potentially having an impact of settings. My question: Is there a way to just get in a fly? i.e. Manually adjust the throttles for T/O, climb etc. Can you just 'clear' the FMS so it doesn't try to out smart you? The sim check doesn't expect you to be able to understand a 777, it's just what they use to test basic flying skills (the actual job is flying TPs). Any help would be appreciated, Cheers Herc! (see, I even read the 'please sigh' sticky 😉 )

Got it. Now working. Thank you 😊

Settings on the 650, within FSX? Can't see anything in there
  6. Hi, I'm not entirely sure how to describe this one, so please bare with me. On the old version of RPX G430, you used to be able to select OBS mode and then turn the OBS dial on the instrument - this would be replicated on the GPS screen so you could see the radial. Well, it doesn't appear that you can do that anymore - either on the 430 or 650. Has something changed, or did I miss a config file entry (again 😉). It used to work as described on the 430 I had set up, but it's not working at all on the 650 either. Any ideas, suggestions, or pointers to FTFI appreciated.

RXP GTN650 - NZWP (Whenuapai) VOR etc

Thanks Glenn. That did do the trick. I wasn't even aware that database existed! Cheers.
  8. G'day all, Just wondering if anyone else is, or has, been having any issues with the Nav Aids at NZWP, in particular the VOR/DME on 116.4. I can tune it but the avionics are not picking it up and therefore can't fly the approach. I've got an up to date db (may be a month old ish). Everything else and all other aerodrome Nav Aids seems to be functioning ok i.e. AA, HN, WR Any ideas or pointers would be gratefully received.

Can't get GTN650 to work with FSX (resolved)

Thanks Jean-Luc I had a suspicion it might be to do with the graphics drivers after I read a few other posts, so I updated them before seeing your post. I seems that it might have done the trick although I haven't had the opportunity to test fully. After reading your post I just updated everything anyway...... Fingers crossed. (If you don't hear from me again assume all is well with the world 😉 )

OK.....did that! Now all I'm getting is a black screen, and the following log file. I just installed let the Garmin install in the default directories, so I have no idea why this is happening!! 18/09/08 04:26:38.015 03212 - ] # rxpGtnSim32.dll version 2.5.3.0 18/09/08 04:26:38.014 03212 INFO ] 18/09/08 04:26:38.919 03212 WARN ] can't find trainer installer path I'm going to be honest, I'm pretty much at the end of my tether with this thing now. I bought this app 3-4 days ago, and it wasn't cheap ($75NZD). I bought it because the RPX 430 worked just great. Unfortunately, I have spent the best part of the time since buying the 650..... well......far***g about with config files, debug code etc etc. I have installed and uninstalled the app, and all of the Garmin extras more times than I care to remember now, and it's got me nowhere! I still have the same issue I've been having all along. The unit starts, then within a minute 'freezes' (or goes black) - typically now though it's just freezing i.e. the display is still visible, but it is unresponsive to inputs. When I try and run any of the Navigators with the Garmin Aviation Trainer app they will not poser up. I press the Power On at the bottom right and it just cycles through Power Up, Powered Up and Power Down, Powered Down! Any ideas. The GTN trainers (that pop up the throttle etc) all work just fine. Lets's give this one more go - Look forward to hearing your ideas.

Did you mean d/l GTN750? This issue is for the GTN650 I can't install/re-install 750 as my key isn't valid for that product.

Thanks for the reply. OK, the SP issue was that I hadn't installed it - SP2 that is. My bad!! Once installed, I got the option to add/configure the 650 on the aircraft screen. Unfortunately, the Black screen of death issue is still happening though. It's fine one minute......and then poof! Thanks for your reply. Ok, finally got this all sorted. Turns out it was an SP issue, that I've now resolved. Unfortunately, now I have another issue instead. After about 5 mins or so of running fine the GTN650 goes 'black' with the word Starting in the lower left corner........ Any ideas on this one?
