  1. The number one reason for slow loading is bad coding. ... which also includes missing files (gauges, textures, effects, sounds) and unnecessary files left behind. EVERY addon for FSX I download goes through a "cleaning" process before I launch them! I think it will be a good idea for FS2020 to have a information webpage about Coding Standards for third party devs, with strict rules to follow.
  2. I would like to see the ATC Callsigns for old/defunct airlines to be voiced and not removed. Many airlines folded after 2001 (some before that) but should be kept for the future of the sim. Some of these are: TWA, Pan Am, Swissair, Air Afrique, Sabena, Air Gabon, UTA, Air Inter, Laker, ...
  3. Just installed FSXWX today and so far so good! It does make a big difference to my FSX flying experience and it is not that hard to setup. Although it is recommended, you don't have to buy a licence for FSUIPC. It also works fine with FSCloud and Stevefx DX10 scenery fixer. Of course, better weather means slightly lower framerate but so worth it. All in all it is a great addition to my sim. Thank you all for your contributions to this topic.
  4. Yes, I think that is the reason too. By bringing MSFS to Win10 and XBOX Microsoft can showcase their technologies (Azure AI, MS Cloud, Bing Satellite Imagery, ...) to the common people like us, and most likely attract some big business contracts this way.
  5. Yes I agree, the "Active" runway should be decided by the wind direction on the day and at that time. With airports with multiple runways, if parallel (Left and Right) then one should be for Take-off and one for Landing. For very large airports like Shiphol or Vancouver, with crossing runways, only parallel runways should be used for Take off and Landing (by default), as above. Also, "Heavy" aircrafts should not be given a shorter runways for landing by ATC if a longer runway is available. I often fly to Nice (LFMN) which has a lovely approach along the coast over the sea, where runway 04L is the active (when the weather is good) but it is the shorter one of the two, and it is also active for both take off and landing. This creates queues of planes waiting for take off because there is a plane on final. I tend to request 04R to land every time but it is not default. It would be "Nice" to see a better management of runways 🙂 I am refering to FSX/FSX SE here, of course.
  6. Ok, let's try to put this thread back on track ... What I would like to see in the new sim: - Accurate earth gravity: Moon cycles affect ocean and sea tides. High altitude flying has less resistance and saves fuel due to "thin" air. - Dual and Triple monitor support: Ability to spread cockpit and views across multiple monitors. Split cockpit. - Fully functional 3D cockpit as default while still preserving 2D panel if prefered. - Default aircrafts should represent most types of engine types and configurations out of the box. - Default aircrafts should includes wheel, float, ski and setting options for special aircrafts like water bombers and re-fuelling tankers. - Support for 8 engine aircrafts would be good (currently only 4 engines in FSX). - Better fuel tank transfers, crossfeed. At least support for 5 fuel tanks/ fuel valves. - Please bring back Concorde! Ok that's all for now. Cheers!
  7. It will be interesting to see if oceans and seas have tidal variations. FSX always had many clipping glitches when water textures were being applied to terrain, ... and certainly no tidal effect. Just imagine Barra airport (Wales) where you can only take-off and land at low tide 😉 Great comparison!
