  1. This morning I did a couple of tests. First I just deleted the S340 GTN .ini file and let it get recreated on its own. This did NOT work well at all. I could not get NAV mode to work at all. I toggled the Master Device setting and it had no affect. I then went and got the default .ini file that was in the S340 zip file and the test flight with that one worked just as expected. These are the default GTN settings that come with the S340: [GTN] ; comma separated list of gauges gauges = GTN_750_1 [GTN_750_1] ; comma separated list of render targets. drawto = WINDOW, PANEL3D ; is the master device if true. MasterDevice = true LinkCrs = true LinkObs = true LinkVor = true LinkSimGps = true FuelType = JETA OwnshipIcon = BUSINESS_JET ; aviation db: 0: nav_db2_grm, 1: nav_db2, 2: nav_heli_db2_grmn, 3: nav_heli_db2 NavDbType = 1 VoicePref = MALE
  2. Later today or maybe tomorrow I will just delete the .ini file and let it recreate it to see what happens. That way we know for sure it is totally stock config.
  3. Ok..just completed the tests you asked for above. Not sure why I had issues yesterday but I'm not sure what other settings I may have had in the GTN. But with the settings below everything is working as expected without doing anything special. I start cold and dark in the Carenado S340 and the flight goes exactly as expected. I tried multiple times by exiting the sim completely and then starting up with a cold and dark cockpit in the S340. [GTN] ; comma separated list of gauges gauges = GTN_750_1 [GTN_750_1] ; comma separated list of render targets. drawto = WINDOW, PANEL3D ; is the master device if true. MasterDevice = true LinkSimGps = true ; aviation db: 0: nav_db2_grm, 1: nav_db2, 2: nav_heli_db2_grmn, 3: nav_heli_db2 NavDbType = 1 VoicePref = MALE LinkVor = true LinkCrs = true LinkObs = true
  4. Jean-Luc, So I just finished some testing. I started with the Baron 58 as you stated and it had the following GTN750 settings plus . Here are the main settings from the ini file...i did not include the window specific settings as they should not be relevant for this: [GTN_750_1] ; comma separated list of render targets. drawto = WINDOW, PANEL3D ; is the master device if true. MasterDevice = true LinkSimGps = true ; aviation db: 0: nav_db2_grm, 1: nav_db2, 2: nav_heli_db2_grmn, 3: nav_heli_db2 NavDbType = 1 VoicePref = MALE I did everything as you stated. I had NAV and APPR enabled after taking off. The only thing that happened differently from what you have above is that I did not intercept the G/S until i turned at ELISS heading towards TYLUR. After I passed ELISS the GTN went from TERM to LNAV+V moded and once I got to the TOD point on the map I intercepted the G/S and everything proceeded as expected down to the runway. I then loaded up the Carenado S340. I went through the same steps but when I engaged NAV mode nothing happened. I then toggled Master Device off and back on and then NAV kicked in and everything went just as the Baron did. But then I started thinking that I might have some different GTN750 settings than what the Baron has due to all the testing, etc over the last 2 weeks. So I then went to the .ini file for the S340 as well as the Citation and made sure they were set exactly like the Baron. Once I did that everything worked exactly like the Baron for both the S340 and Citation. I exited and restarted the sim between each flight so that it was a fresh start and the planes were cold and dark. So if anyone is having issues I would suggest that make sure the settings are like I have above and see if that works. GregR

GTN750 not picking up GS on RNAV/LPV approach

I totally agree...the workarounds deter me from flying a lot of times just due to the frustrations...and never knowing if it actually will work. And then when you get through the entire startup procedures and then realize you forgot to do the "fix" which then causes you to start totally over...totally sucks. My rant is over as well! 🙂

Hey Jean-Luc....any progress been made on these issues? Last I read is you were working with Carenado on it. Hope you are making some good progress. Thanks, GregR

If I remove that line it gets put right back in there after I load the aircraft...and did not change any functionality for me.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger and got the Carenado S340 for X-Plane. It has the same exact issue as the Citation. I have to go through the disable/restart flight/enable cycle for it to work properly. I'm glad there's a workaround but this really needs to be fixed.

I'm happy to hear that Reality XP is working directly with Carenado on this. Or at least that's what it sounded like you were saying a bit earlier????

Until it's officially fixed you can do this: 1. Load flight 2. Load FlightPlan into GTN750 3. Turn on Autopilot and press NAV...if it goes to ON then you are good to go 4. If it goes to ARM then Disable the GTN plugin (not just the instrument but the entire plugin) from the Plugins Menu 5. Go to Flight Setup. Click on Change Location (but dont change location) and click Start Flight 6. Enable the GTN Plugin from the Plugins menu 7. Load Flightplan into GTN750 8. Turn on Autopilot and press NAV. You should get the ON indication now. If so you can turn off Autopilot for now and start your flight. Everything should work correctly.

I would suggest you open a ticket with Carenado...who knows..maybe they are working on that one as well. https://carenado.zendesk.com

GTN750 not picking up GS on RNAV/LPV approach

Here is the latest response I received from Carenado. Sounds like there is hope in the future that this will be fixed in the Citation II. But no ETC yet.... Greetings,Thanks for writing, we're in the middle of the process of updating our XP11 aircraft to correctly work on XP11.31 also there's a new version of RXP GTN750, so this will be fixed in the next package we release for the aircraft, sadly, we don't have a specific timeline yet, but will be soon.Regards Carenado.

All...If you are having this issue with the Carenado Citation please go open a ticket with Carenado. I just got a response that my ticket is the first one they have ever received for this issue. You can submit a ticket at: https://carenado.zendesk.com This is what they said: "We just integrate the F1 GTN750 and we don't have the issues you are mentioning, actually, this is the first ticket we receive with this issue." and I responded to them that I'm talking about the Reality XP version of the GTN750. So again...please open a ticket with them if you are having this issue so that they might show some interest of looking into the problem.

GTN750 not picking up GS on RNAV/LPV approach

I deleted and resinstalled the Carenado Citation and for now I can at least use the workaround to get things to function properly. It would still be nice if Reality XP could mimic that behavior (via a checkbox) so that we could select that for this aircraft...and any others that might exhibit this same issue. But again..at least the workaround is fixing it for the time being.

GTN750 not picking up GS on RNAV/LPV approach

Of course we know the GTN works with other planes. That has always been what everyone says. But it seemed RealityXP was confident that this update was going to resolve the issue specifically with the Citation...but it’s not the case. I have to say I’m a bit disappointed that you do not even own the aircraft to test with yet you were almost sure you had found the issue and addressed it. So it sounds like at this point that RealityXP is through trying to figure out what the issue is with this plane. I figured this was going to turn into a finger pointing type of issue as Carenado thinks their plane is fine and RealityXP thinks their GTN is fine. Doubt we will ever get to the bottom of it. I would be ok if the trick of disabling, restarting flight and re-enabling worked for me but I’ve only had it work once so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong since other people have it working. So at this point the GTN does not work properly with the primary plane I fly.
