  1. Why did they only provide one livery with the large tundra version, yet the stand small tired version has all the liveries, whose dumb idea was this.
  2. I don't fly heavy's, I stay with GA, I'm a back-country flier. Thanks for the the input on the Official folder, I found this from another post. I've seen a few post on re-skinning the liveries, but they have all over written the the vanilla files. I've not seen anyone create several liveries that show up as options under liveries for the aircraft. I wonder if you could add folders, somewhere in the directory, so that under the AC in the game, you switch between different liveries. It looks like this what Asobo intended to do, I just really surprised that Asobo didn't ship the game with multiple livery options. For Asobo this would be easy. since the the UV mapping layout for each AC. I didn't look around, but I'm guessing we don't have access to the 3D model files, where we could load into a 3D program and see the skin (UV mapping). G:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\asobo-aircraft-xcub\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_XCub\TEXTURE I've been able to figure out most of the fuselage, but the wing and the tail feathers are proving to be much more difficult.
  3. I have notice that if I fire up FS, and walk away (takes for ever to load), If I’ve been on the “Press to Start” screen for a minute or two, pressing any key on he KB does nothing. But I noticed that if you right click the mouse, it will continue on to the home menu. Ms are we really going to have to wade through all the cut-scenes for the life of the sim, ought to be an option to turn them off, FS takes long enough to launch any ways.
  4. I'm training in the Xcub, I believe its using the Garmin G3X. I'm having hard time figuring out how to use it, I enter a waypoint for "direct route" or end waypoint, but nothing gets drawn on the map. It should give me a direction heading, and snap a line on the map. I"m flying VFR only. I was just wondering if anyone has seen any tutorials for Garmin G3X, setting waypoints, using its GPS, ect.
  5. My monitor is 2K, so 2560 x 1440 is my native resolution, with my monitor @ 144 Hz (w/G-sync). I don't run FPS overlays all time, just when I get anew title, and I trying to tweak it. So if your running FS at a lower resolution, can't really compare to a system running FS at 2560 x 1440. I wasted 150GB just on having to do a second download / install, just to get FS properly installed. Data usage wise, I've already tweaked all those settings.
  6. Fly as to what some describe as "okay or smooth" but what are the actual frame rates. All I fly is GA planes in the back country, that's my type of preferred flying. Its recommend to not fly the sim on anything below 30 fps. If my factory OC'ed RTX 2080 won't handle anything above High, some stuff I set to medium, like shadows etc. There's no way he's cruising around with good frame rates with a GTX 970 with high settings. Plenty of You Tube post with people stating the same thing about system requirements being way off, they have posted showing their hardware and FS settings, with the resulting frame rates (lower than expected).
  7. Unfortunately Comtrash's User account data is not that accurate. "Data used in the last 24 hours may not be displayed".
  8. Asobo Studio might be the dev team, Ms outsourced to them for their large world experience. There are Ms technologies at work behind the scenes (Azure), Ms is the one calling most of the shots, and has the final word. The system requirements are way off, you're not going to run FS on High settings with GTX 970, and not with a RTX 2060 either, let alone the Ultra settings that my RTX 2080 can't handle. The Ms post "Ideal" system requirements refer to being able to crank everything all the way up, you can't do this with a single RTX 2080 Most of these titles you refer to run DX 11 because they were coded for the console, and ported over to PC, then tweaked (this is where lot PC issues come from). Past and current (excluding the PS5 and new Xbox coming) are designed to work with DX 12. When something does things more efficiently, using less resources, this means less load on the CPU and GPU. I’ve played a lot of high-end FPS titles, even DICE is smart enough that the last few BF titles have the had the user option to run under DX 11 or DX 12. I have an RTX 2080, and before that it was a GTX 1080, and I’ve never had an issue running out of VRAM. I have a 1TB SSD dedicated to Flight Simulators “rolling cache”. I’ve only been to (4) small airports, no cities near them, and my 1TB drive is already full. I planned on staying near an airport doing training, honing my flight skills, was hoping to store most of the local scenery. I did this because Comtrash, my provider, has me on a 1229GB monthly cap, and I have to watch my data usage, as I could easily go over every month. No one knows yet how much streamed data the sim sim is going to use. The sim was clearly rushed to market, hence all the nightmare threads on installs and CTD issues. Hoping in the new few months they can address a lot of the bugs, and maybe better optimize the game engine. Ms is so flooded, they have stopped taking support calls, instead you have to go to Xbox help site and request a call back (stated 90 min wait) My first call back came at just over two hours, and it was a recording saying there are no agents to take my call right now. Second attempt of a call-back was a repeat, both request were put in at the beginning of their business day, meaning the had the entire day to respond, but had no one to do it.
  9. Looking over all the screenshots and videos from the months of betas, and then I saw Ms release of the minimum and recommended system requirements, and I thought, un-huh right. Then Ms added what they called "Ideal requirements"... They are still on DX 11 (older than dirt), DX 12 does many things more efficiently, using less resources. Who developed Direct X for games, oh that's right, it was Ms. Recommended: OS: Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher Architecture: x64 DirectX: Version 11 Memory: 16 GB Video Memory: 4 GB Processor: Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 590 Ideal: (cough, cough) OS: Windows 10 version 18362.0 or higher Architecture: x64 DirectX: Version 11 Memory: 32 GB VRAM: 8 GB Processor: Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 2080 or AMD Radeon VII My system is no slouch, and most of my settings are on high or medium (FPS 40 - 55), I can't even get close to running anything on Ultra, FPS will drop like a rock from the sky. 10. All I noticed is... There are no livery options for any aircraft, and Ms has locked down, restricted, encrypted all the folders so you can't even do repaints on your own system, so all those interviews about supporting the mod world have gone out the window. From here on in greed will take over, and you will have to pay for every mod. Worst part about folders being hidden of having no access is, I have software that runs some of my peripherals, and I can't use my profiles correctly because there is NO FS.exe to point to.
  11. That did not work for me, under properties none of the tabs point to the target or location of the exe. I have profiles for peripherals that need to be pointed to an exe,
  12. This not shown in the game requirements, and nothing prompted me for it in the Ms Store. I finally got past the "Press any key to start", and I'm now downloading a (95.15 GB) file to complete my install. The Fix for me, Xbox Beta app (PC) has to be installed! https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9MV0B5HZVK9Z --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So much for positive thoughts... I was at about 95% download when up popped Ms error, "FlightSimulator.exe has stopped working", blah, blah. I fire it back up, and could see no signs of a download resume, I let ti stay on FS page for 20 minutes, nothing, all I could do is move around the cursor. Did a cold boot, launched FS, 10 minutes later the page changed, showed there was an update, another 10 minutes with no changes, finally a blue progress line appeared at the bottom and finished. I started to look graphic settings, just looking around, made NO changes, and bang, same Ms error, the FSexe has crashed, close program and at my desktop. FS won't stay running for than 5 minutes and it crashes. I can't see how all this got past months of beta testing, and no one had any of these install and run problems. Update, after FS loading and crashing several times, it then decided to start updating again, and picked up where in crashed with 5 GB left to go, started out at decent speed, then went to nothing. I let it set there for 20 minutes with zero progress, had to kill it via task manager. Launched FS again, it did not try to resume its unfinished update. 1. No matter what aircraft or airport is entered in "World", you can click on the "Fly" button all day or hit enter, and nothing happens. 2. For the first time (no crashes) I tried to exit FS, and it crashed with the usual FS.exe stopped... I've now been messing around with FS for (12) hours try to get it to install, launch, update, and start a flight.

  14. Thousands of people are have the same issue of not being able to run FS. I have the same issue as many, it hangs on the "Press any key to Start". At this point I think Ms store has issues, (2) client installs from the ms store, the game (shows 990.1 MB) and digital content 10 MB). Install pops up stating 127 GB of drive space required, plenty of room on my C-drive, so I hit install, applet windows disappears, and there is no sign of an install anywhere. I estimate with my connection that a file download requiring 127 GB if drive space would take a good (2) hours, wherein as mine only takes 30 seconds I even went through the nightmare of update Win 10 to v2004, still the game has the same install issue. 1. I unplugged all peripherals from my PC. 2. Disable Windows firewall, disable my AV. 3. Multiple restarts and Cold Boots. Twenty years as an IT Professional, I tried about every trick I can think of. I still believe for whatever reason I'm not getting a full install of the game, confirmed by checking my free / used pace for my C-drive before and after install of FS. 90 minutes on the phone with Ms support, they haven't a single clue of what there are doing, no-knowledge tech reading from a script on is screen.
  15. Bunch of people in forums have the same issue. Called Ms support, on the phone for over 90 minutes, they have absolutely no idea of what they re doing, and were of zero help. I uninstalled reinstalled several times, restarts, cold boots, you name it. The install in the store only says 990.1 MB, then second install appears on my desktop stating it requires 127 GB of drive space, my C-drive has room, I hit install, and it instantly disappears, and you see no download anywhere. Lunch game, few cuts scenes with audio, get to the "Press any key to start", hangs, and will go no further. Several reboots and a cold start after this, just repeat and rinse. Ms support tried to tell me it was Asobo Studio's problem, and to call them in France on my dime.
