  1. ETA, thanks again, never mind, found it. Thanks for the pointer. I have "de-quarantined" the dll but still get the same error. Here's the log showing the sim dll not quarantined, and below that the lines from the dll.log file showing missing components. I'm not sure how to restore that missing component since it doesn't exist on my system. (I see rxpGtnSim64.dll, but it's not complaining about that). https://imgur.com/a/WSrHhnZ (Incidentally, how do people post inline images here? The interface doesn't seem to accept imgur urls and just fails without explanation.) I also have to agree with the poster from last November, that continuing to publish software that causes everyone who uses it to have to disable virus checking is asking strangers to take a lot on faith, in a way that seems just a tad inconsistent with, say, habits of good ADM.
  2. Yes, of course. How would I know of anyone else’s experience with this. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. I am using a recent vintage Windows 10 machine with no extra antivirus. The history here for me is (1) virus warning on 1st installation (ignored); (2) virus warning with this latest update (bypassed); (3) black GTN simulator screen in the X-11 sim after the update.
  3. After bypassing the warnings on the installer, I now get a runtime error from WIndows Defender, and the GTN screen in X-11 comes up black. https://imgur.com/a/URJWs1s
  4. Well, so what's the solution here? Just ignore the warning of the trojan? There are some real security issues around your operation. 1. The original installer triggers a virus warning 2. The update triggers a trojan warning 3. The flight1.com website that handles purchases has an unencrypted http login system where passwords are sent back & forth in plaintext. C'mon fellas, it's 2021, not 1994. This is the sort of thing that raises the hairs on the back of my neck. Like, what am I putting at risk by using your stuff?!? James - for some reason "false" alerts are only a problem with the reality xp software. I have tons of other software on my computer and none of it has given me as many problems as RXP. Warnings are there for a reason. I don't know any of the people behind this company personally, so I have to take a lot on faith in bypassing security for it. Further warnings after installation: https://imgur.com/a/UZqsEYh It's not complaining about any links on the start menu, it's complaining about the main dll.
  5. I'm also getting a warning, though a different one. Frustrating to have to bypass virus protection for this. The error is coming from Windows Defender https://imgur.com/a/w6jImPe
  6. Never mind. I went through all the install steps again and this time it worked.
  7. OK, I went ahead with the install & payment, but now I'm getting an error from the "Garmin Trainer" install. See here: https://imgur.com/a/Gey4YWL It appears to have been designed for WIndows 7 and is not compatible with Windows 10.
  8. Yeah, doesn't work, and in fact the website tells me "You cannot paste images directly. Upload or insert images from URL." in a banner across the comment area. Perhaps as a moderator or someone with more "points" others are able to do this, but I am not. Anyway, there's nothing to the Windows 10 warning except what I described. A square pop-up that blocks me from running the Reality-XP exe file I downloaded from the "e-commerce" button on the website. I have a standard Win 10 Home setup and don't get this warning for a lot of other things I install, e.g., from open source sites used by (old) developers, such as emacs, cygwin or subversion. Point being, I don't think the problem is *me*. I know I can set things to bypass that warning, and similarly Chrome's, but it definitely raises some red flags. ETA, here's a link to the image: https://imgur.com/eeRRRND. (Upload from URL *also* doesn't work. I get a red bar on the window from this site when I try to do it...)
  9. I can't see how to paste a screenshot here. But the windows 10 one says "Windows Protected your PC Windows Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk. More info (link) " And then a button that says "Don't Run" and nothing else. I can't reproduce the Chrome one, I suppose because having bypassed it once, it remembers that I decided the site was OK. One warning is understandable, if concerning. Two seems like asking for trouble.
  10. I was all set to get the garmin gtn sims off the reality-xp website, but on downloading got warning first from the web browser (chrome) and then on attempting to run the .exe, from Windows 10. These were not the usual "requires admin privileges to install" warnings, but instead more like "we have no idea who this publisher is, this may not be safe". I install lots of non-standard software (as a programmer and sw developer) so I'm used to getting exe's from non-commercial sites with no problems. These warnings were entirely unfamiliar and a bit alarming. I can provide screenshots if desired.
