  1. Unfortunately my i5 doesn't have hyperthreading 😪 This focus on a different window fix will get me by for VFR flying in a 172 for now. But a hardware upgrade is in my future... and hopefully some patches are released in the near future.
  2. I just tried unplugging the USB wireless receiver for my Mouse/Keyboard and Flight Sim completely locked and crashed. So I think it definitely is something with the mouse/keyboard. Anyone have a wired keyboard/mouse they could try to see if that is any better?
  3. If you put the focus on another window (Program) all the stutters and freezes magically go away. You can test this by hitting the windows key to bring up the start menu while flying. The downside is you can't use the keyboard and mouse while doing this. But I found I can map all the buttons on my joystick and get by with infrequent use of the keyboard. If you have a single monitor you can just bring up file explorer... resize it and put it at the bottom of the screen and leave the focus on that window. I'm running modest hardware.... i5-4690, 16GB, RX 580 with 8 GB VRAM. Give it a try. This means these problem are fixable by Microsoft.
  4. My apologies if this has already been posted. The below windows setting seems to fix the very long stutters (many seconds long stutters) that occur periodically during flight and at the start of a flight. However it seems to cause a slightly less stable frame rate. So it is a tradeoff. In windows search for and go to "advanced system settings". Go to the advanced tab and under performance click settings. A new performance options window pops up. Go to the advanced tab and under processer scheduling switch it to Background Services. It appears some background tasks that are required are getting starved of CPU time. This isn't a perfect fix. Hopefully they can come up with a better way to share CPU time.
  5. Anyone get the manual cache to work? I tried to cache the area around my small hometown and airport. After downloading the area and unplugging my internet connection everything looks the same as it does with no cache or internet. No improvements at all. I tried doing the whole area in Low, Medium and High and no changes. Medium and High had exactly the same file sizes, both pretty small (single digit megabytes), so it must not be saving much. It looks great with the internet connection, and is still playable without. I was just hoping I could have some high quality areas saved locally. I also tried disabling the rolling cache and it had no effect.
