  1. Is there any information yet on compatibility between RXP GTN750 and Xplane 12?
  2. OK thanks, sounds worth experimenting with.
  3. Just thinking, could you run a second slave copy of Xplane on a second networked PC and run the GTN from that? I don’t have a spare license to try, but would be interested to know if this would work. I have a buddy who has XP on a Mac and wants to run GTNs on pop out, perhaps that’s a way to do it?
  4. I have the same problem, similar setup to you. I found that if I switch off the engine and master switch, the whine stops, but it winds down quite slowly. This sounds to me like they are modeling the whine an electric turn coordinator makes, it is a bit similar in the real aircraft (but you have a headset on so you don't hear it!). If I then switch battery master on, it cranks up again, with engine still off. So this has all the symptoms of eager modeling of electric TC, but annoyingly it's too loud and there is no way to switch off. I contacted Carenado support today to see if they can do anything (I don't have high hopes).
  5. Ok understood, thanks. I have a basic bezel working now with the two knobs and two buttons, all good.
  6. I tried experimenting with some code in Air Manager to do this, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. For example I use this code (with a single GTN750 in my setup as #1): xpl_command("RXP/GTN/HOME_1") Is that the correct syntax? This in not having any result in the sim. I set the "Use Simulator GPS Commands" in Xplane/GTN Settings. Also tried it without that set, same either way. EDIT: Sorry, I have it working now, I had failed to properly restart things. Syntax is correct! Will carry on experimenting! Thanks
  7. Ok thanks. Yes, I can see it is possible with some programming work, I was just wondering if someone had done that already like for the G1000. I guess not.
  8. Trust is a tricky one - we might trust the vendor not to do anything malicious, but what it they rely on some third party software which does actually contain a virus? How do we know? Personally, I have never in many years had one piece of software flagged this way, this is the first time, so it makes me a little worried. This is not a common problem. And from the other "black screen" thread, it seems like many people have first seen this in the last day or two (me included). Not everyone is technical enough to figure out what is going on. Yes, of course I have a choice not to use the software, but I would prefer to hear that the vendor is going to find a way to address the issue.
  9. I had this same problem which just started today, I have been running GTN750 no problem up to now. When I tried deleting and reinstalling it, I got a virus warning, Windows defender is saying that rxpGtnSim32.dll is infected with Trojan virus. This is worrying! if I turn off virus protection, let the install happen, it works ok, but as soon as virus protection is turned on, it quarantines the file. Is it a real virus? where next?
  10. I use it on an iPad successfully. You need an app on the iPad to turn it into an extra monitor, I use Splashtop XDisplay for that (others have used Duet but it didn’t work for me). You will need to install iTunes on the main Pc and connect the iPad to the PC with the USB cord. Once you have the iPad set up as an extra monitor, you can drag the GTN pop out window across to the iPad, and you will be up and running.
  11. I could see from the video how to see the GTN integrated into an Air Manager panel, and to use the touchscreen, but I couldn’t see how to configure the knobster for the rotary knobs on the GTN. Did I miss something? I can see in Air Manager there are G1000 and GNS430 overlays uploaded which have code to link knobs and through to X-Plane but there is no GTN750 equivalent.
  12. Thanks for responding. I did a little more investigation, it's not actually specific to the G1000. The problem is the same using the stock Xplane 172 with the GPS which looks like a 530. I think the issue is this: it appears the Air Manager G5 is using "gps_bearing_deg_mag" to set the G5 GPS bearing pointer. That dataref is being updated by Xplane with a good bearing, when using Xplane 530 or G1000 style GPS. When the RXP GTN is enabled, it is being set to due north (actually 359.9 or something close). I don't know if you are setting it to that value, or it reverts to that value when master GPS is the RXP. The dataref you point out "gps_dir_degt" is a bearing relative to track. So for example if track is 060 and gps bearing is 020, the dataref value will be -40. You can use that to get the GPS bearing (060-040 = 020), but the Air Manager G5 is relying on the default Xplane behaviour of doing that calculation and writing the result to gps_bearing_deg_mag. That's what I observe anyway. Any chance you could update the GTN to write the actual bearing to gps_bearing_deg_mag?
  13. I’m using the GTN750 in Xplane with Carrenado 182. I have AIr Manager G5 panel emulation connected to Xplane. Settings for GTN are as master, with GPS->SIM sync. The problem I have is the gps bearing pointer on the g5 is not updating correctly. I believe it is driven off xplane dataref gps_bearing_deg_mag This variable is not being updated correctly. If I use the G1000 in the 182 it is. As soon as I make GTN master and drive the G1000 from that, the variable stops being updated. any ideas? thanks.
  14. Hello, did you succeed with this, or can anyone else say whether this aircraft is compatible with RXP GTN 750? Does not need to be integrated into 3D panel, I just need the 750 to function correctly in a pop out screen with this aircraft. Or...can anyone recommend any good C182 implementation which is compatible? thanks
