  1. Welcome to Ilulissat! The "Iceberg Capital of the World" and the most touristed city in Greenland! During our research expedition across Greenland, part of the FSimStudios team had the opportunity to extensively survey Ilulissat and its developing new international airport. We are now proud to present what we have been working on: a fully up-to-date, ultra-detailed rendition of Ilulissat Airport (BGJN/JAV), as of September 1, 2026! Ilulissat is one of Greenland’s most important tourism destinations and the gateway to Disko Bay and the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord. Its existing airport has long relied on a short 845-metre runway, limiting the types of aircraft able to serve the city. That is about to change. The new Ilulissat International Airport, officially scheduled to open in October 2026, features a new 2,200-metre / 7217 feet runway and modern terminal facilities capable of accommodating significantly larger aircraft and direct international operations. The opening will be marked by an Air Greenland A330neo flight, followed by the introduction of direct scheduled service between Ilulissat and Copenhagen. The longer-term goal of the airport project is to make Ilulissat considerably more accessible from abroad, opening opportunities for additional destinations throughout Europe and North America while strengthening the city’s position as one of Greenland’s principal international gateways. For a period of time, the existing and new airport facilities will continue to operate simultaneously as operations transition to the new international airport. Our rendition captures this unique moment in Ilulissat’s aviation history, representing both the established airport and the nearly completed international facility as they exist immediately before the official opening. Coverage Fully up to date as of September 1, 2026, with both the new and the old airport modelled Ultra-detailed rendition based on extensive surveying, airport photography, and reference material. The new international airport The complete new Ilulissat International Airport, including its 2,200-metre runway, apron, taxiways, terminal complex and associated infrastructure Detailed interior and exterior modelling of the new international terminal, with accurate architectural details, signage, lighting and layout based on the latest available references Detailed airport buildings and infrastructure throughout the airport area, including service facilities, hangars, operational buildings and the tower Detailed runway, taxiway and airport lighting based on the latest construction information and airport references Terrain and surroundings Custom terrain and extensive work around the airport perimeter, reproducing the dramatic Arctic landscape and the substantial terrain modifications made during construction of the new airport Several custom landmarks and POIs throughout Ilulissat — Hotel Arctic, Hotel Hvide, the Ilulissat Cultural Center, Pituffik Market and the new Icefjord Centre Performance Optimized modelling and texturing throughout the airport and surrounding scenery, delivering extensive detail while maintaining performance Recommended companion Freeware We highly recommend pairing this scenery with the free Definitive Greenland Megapack by Garf, available on flightsim.to. 4. We know we have been very quiet recently… this is one of the reasons. NUUK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, GREENLAND NOW AVAILABLE FOR MSFS2020 AND MSFS2024! 🇬🇱🇬🇱 A few weeks ago, part of the FSimStudios team embarked on a research expedition across a number of airports. This expedition would result in the team getting stuck in Nuuk for several days due to inclement weather. As a result of this experience, and with the incredible cooperation from Air Greenland, we are happy to announce that we have been quietly working on a fully up-to-date, ultra-detailed rendition of Nuuk Airport, as February 2025, based on extensive in-person surveys. Nuuk is among the most recently inaugurated international airports - a brand-new terminal and new 2200m runway were just inaugurated in Late November, 2024. Nuuk serves now as base of the A330NEO and Dash 8 Fleet of Air Greenland, and has scheduled connections with Canada, Iceland and Denmark. Direct flights from Newark, as well as more routes with Europe, are set to open as soon as Summer 2025. Additionally, BGGH is known for its stunning approaches over the Fjords and the capital city - which has been enhanced with various custom-made POIs, including HHE Hotel, where the team took refuge during the storm. Also known, perhaps more infamously, for its challenging and changing weather conditions, resulting in heavy crosswinds, icing and low visibility. Nuuk is available RIGHT NOW! https://store.fsimstudios.com/products/fsimstudios-nuuk-international-airport-bggh-for-msfs20-24
