  1. Does Pilot2ATC have information about the terrain in the vicinity of an airport? I tried my first flight with Pilot2ATC today and got told by ATC (Pilot2ATC) that I should descend to 3000ft when I start with the STAR that was on the fight plan (the name of the STAR was quoted). I followed the order and found myself flying into a mountain soon after (the visibility was almost 0 because of clouds). I have no experience with ATC so I'm not sure whether keeping above terrain is something that one can expect ATC to help with or if that is something that the pilot(s) alone has to deal with. Something else I found odd was that when I checked in with ATC after I've been asked to descend to 3000ft 'say it' told ATC that my height was 3000ft when in fact it was still much more at that stage.
  2. Thank you Dave. The problem is sorted out now. I had to install the English US culture pack to make things work.
  3. I installed pilot2atc yesterday and got it to connect to FS2020 but when I use the "say it" feature to say something to ATC I don't get any response. I have a flight plan which I also imported to FS2020 and pilot2atc is showing the green indicator at the bottom left to indicate that the simulated aeroplane in FS2020 is running etc. The flight plan was validated and filed (both buttons are green). I tried several phrases including the "ready to copy" one which I've seen several people started with but I have not had any response on any of the phrases that I tried. The radio frequency was picked from the list that pops up after clicking the "Freq" button. I also checked on the Navigraph taxi chart and the same frequency appeared there. So I am confident that I had the right frequency dialed in. There was a popup warning about setting up speech recognition but I did not try to use my voice, only the say it feature.
  4. Thank you for the advice Mike S KPDX. I checked that I did all the things that you mentioned but still do not get any response. I think I will ask my question again in the Pilot2ATC forum as regis9 suggested.
