  1. Ok thanks for the advice. I'm not sure where the "collect yourself" comment is coming from but ... sure, I'll happily "collect myself" despite feeling fairly "collected" at the moment. 😃 Apparently I don't know enough to realize that the aircraft model and maker is critical information in this case. As I understood the instructions, the coordinates for the display are the pertinent information that allow me to modify the ini file. Regardless, the aircraft is the Airfoil Labs Cessna 172 (old version, not the newest with G1000 - if that isn't obvious). Thanks again.
  2. As usual I'm grinding my way through some of these things as a non-computer guy, and the Reality XP instructions are definitely not written for folks like myself. So please bear with me or point me to where I should go... That said, I've attached the (I think) relevant .ini file to do this, but I can't for the life of me interpret what the instructions say to do to it. I have however gotten (again ... I think...) the coordinates for the screen in question: 328, 616, 430, 240 (left, top, width, height) Can someone be so kind as to tell me precisely what to change in the .ini file? The instructions say Right below the section header, locate the line starting with drawto = . Type a new render target to the end of the list. For example: drawto = WINDOW, Garmin_530_screen So - to a non-computer person, "Type a new render target to the end of the list" means ... nothing. What is a render target? What list? What qualifies as a "list" in the .ini file? Where exactly do I write it? Sorry for being slow but I really think the RXP instructions could be written better for those of us with no experience modifying actual programming code. Any help is appreciated. Thanks all. Since I can't attach a file here, I'll post my .ini file in a post below.
  3. I'm afraid I'm fairly dense with these sorts of computer topics, but will someone tell me in step by step form how to properly set the RXP 430 or 530 into a third party panel? Or point me to where that is done already. I have found any of the help directly written by RXP is completely confusing and unclear for someone with no programing experience. Or, for the sake of getting the 430 integrated in at least one of my third party planes (Airfoil Labs C172), can I simply replace the following HIGHLIGHTED text in my AFL C172 RealityXP.GNS.ini file with the text listed in the post above by DRS referencing same?
  4. @RXP How do I get hold of you to resolve an installation error?
  5. No worries thanks for your help. RXP please reply asap. I'm now completely dead in the water. I have a proof of purchase for both products but neither is working.
  6. Ok, copy. I'll just delete those folders. I'm not worried about any lost flight plans. I just want to database back to current. No GTN models from RXP. I guess that also means delete rxpGNS folder in the XPlane plugins directory?
  7. Copy, I'll try that. Do you have a recommendation for the cleanest uninstall? It seems like RXP is now sort of all over the place and it isn't a matter of just deleting a directory. I'm not a complete computer word not allowed ... but at the moment feeling close... Thanks
  8. Thanks for the reply. I definitely have it in the right directory. The database I had installed was a 2021 database. I went back and got the original file I used before and re-copied it into the same folder and nothing changed. The only thing I can think of is that when I ran the install on the new RXP 530 purchase, it changed the folder that it looks in for the database. But I, for the life of me, can't figure out how RXP works - much less how to look to see what/where it installed anything. I'm unfortuantely lost at the moment... Wish I'd never purchased the 530 now.
  9. I have been using the GNS 430 plugin for a while and it works great. I have an updated worldwide.bin file that it's been using with no problems. But I just downloaded the 530 because a couple aircraft I use didn't have a 430 in their panel, and now suddenly both of the units (430 and 530) are back to some 2016 database. I verified my original .bin file is still in place in the Garmin trainer directory. Anyone have any ideas? Please help! 😃 I absolutely "need" the updated database since I routinely run practice instrument approaches in my local area. Thanks.
  10. Woohoo! Question 2 is answered. I just had to click through them until it worked while flying an LPV approach.
  11. Thanks fppilot. Even though you use another platform, that's still helpful for me as I try to dig into this. I'm slowly figuring out some of the manual, but I'm very much NOT a technical computer user so it admittedly takes a LONG time. After revisiting I see the area where my eyes started to glaze over were the exact tools I need. But currently still don't make sense ... 😃 But I'll keep working at it. I'll have to play around more with the configuration menu. So far I haven't found a setting that does what I need. But maybe it's buried in there. Thanks again.
  12. Maybe I'm just dense, but if instructions exist in the RXP GNS 430 package on how to integrate the unit into the panel of a given aircraft, I am unable to figure it out. So I have two questions: 1) How do I replace the Laminar 430 with the RXP 430 in my Airfoil Labs C172? 2) How do I get the RXP 430 to pair up with the glideslope needle on an LPV approach? Thank you to anyone who can help.
  13. [this post was moved from another topic - please don't cross post] This is an old post but I wanted to see if it had been resolved. And my request is actually more basic than this. I need to figure out first how to actually get the GNS 430 into the panel on the AFL C172. So far I can only hover it onscreen. Can someone help?
