  1. I wouldn't like to bring this post up again, but I just read this. I realize I'm in a sim. However, what makes it fun for me, and many others, is how close the sim, or any other sim, mimics real life. This is not the case for everyone of course. I'm speaking for myself, and I'm sure that others, who commented on this thread and elsewhere, feel the same way. "Accurate"-ish weather adds to the realism and immersion, that's it. It's not necessary to sim. But it is necessary to some simmers. If requesting "accurate" weather was unreasonable, not so many people would ask for it, if any. But we did have accurate weather in FSX. Any flight sim veteran has at least heard of Active Sky and their brilliant weather addon. This sim isn't even close to that, or to other FSX weather engines, such as Opus. Again, I'm only speaking from my experience, and there are many others who've had a similar experience to mine, as illustrated in this very thread... and elsewhere. If you enjoy the current state of the sim, good for you. I, on the other hand, would very much like to see improvements.
  2. Had no idea Asobo had bad reputation with some people. I personally haven't heard of them until last year.
  3. I understand, and I have experienced that myself during my years of flight simming. But the weather in the sim is inaccurate a lot of times. It wasn't a one-time thing (or a momentary thing). I check a few, just to make sure I know what the weather is actually like. Examples are: aviationweahter, getmetar, metar-taf
  4. I can only speak of myself. Wind is never accurate, not even close. The other day my local airport had 120 @ 4 and the sim was showing 340 @ some speed I don't remember.
  5. If you're content with the current state of the game, good for you. I, and many others, are not. Yes, it looks nice and everything, but for many of us, it's not remotely accurate. Maybe it is accurate for you. There's a reason unlocking weather for 3rd party devs ranks high on the wish list of MSFS official website.
  6. This is exactly what I'm experiencing. I check local weather on different weather sites, and the sim isn't remotely close to what's going on around me.
  7. I didn't know that. I've recently started simming again, only to find the weather system was too bad for me to continue. Thanks for the information.
  8. According to MSFS development roadmap on their site, opening up live weather to 3rd party devs is not currently planned. It may come in the future, who knows. Some features are planned for this year and some for next year, as many of you already know. Not 3rd party weather though, even though it's highly ranked in simmers' "Top Wishes" list. Those who bought REX WF and those who tried Unreal Weather... this is one of the reasons these addons aren't good enough. I mean, what made FSX the great sim is was, were the 3rd party addons. And the current state of the weather in the sim is not up to standard. I hate simming without good live weather so much that I just stopped simming. Can I please have your thoughts on the current state of live weather, and what you hope to see? Thanks
  9. Wow! That was very informative. Thanks.
  10. I'm a total noob when it comes to FS2020. I flew the PMDG 777 almost exclusively in FSX. That's why I asked the question. I want to pick a plane to stick with for now. What are your other fun planes?
  11. If you had to limit your picks to three planes to use in MSFS (and that includes deluxe, premium deluxe, freeware and pay ware - if you tried any), which ones would you pick? And in what order? I'd appreciate it if your answers had different categories. I'm particularly interested in propeller planes, private jets and commercial jets. And if any of you has the PMDG DC-6, how would you rank it among the others?
  12. I really hope to a flying school experiencing what you said one day. Thanks
  13. Very true. And actually, one of my dreams. Hopefully soon. Thanks 🙂 That what I wanted to know, that's it is good enough, or at least can be with the right hardware. I'll try to get a demo flight at nearest simulator. I don't know why I haven't thought of that. Thanks.
