Buying Prepar3D v5 in pre-2025
Thanks everyone for your opinions. I have decided to go for it. I also consider these versions of PMDG products are their best ever, so I would like to "keep enjoying the peak in flight simulation" which they are.

I bet there are still people flying FSX and it makes them happy.

Yet somehow there is no working weather radar in the sim and apparently will never be. Hopefully it'll change in MSFS 2024. This needs to be proven. I heard different. At least taxiing is still not working as it should. Agree. There is no superior sim. At least to my thinking. Everyone can call a superior sim the one that he/she flies most at the moment. You mentioned "an unprecedented variety of aircraft, many offering robust FMC/MCDU simulations", but I doubt they will be of a high-fidelity level like those you buy for a lot of money. I am planning on buying MSFS 2024 as well. But at some time when I am bored with every other sim I fly. I also agree that everyone can fly whatever sim they want. As long as it makes them happy. Flying study-level aircraft is what makes me happy. I see people went after P3D in my topic, but as a matter of fact, this was never a P3D thread, it was more a thread about buying P3D to fly PMDG 747 and 777. I don't care which sim to buy as long as it has planes I want to fly.

REX + Volumetric Clouds OFF looks great. Better than XP 1000%, and probably even more realistic than MSFS.

I've looked into it. It seems to be a great addon, just like FS Labs A320 series. I'll start from PMDG though, but Concorde is tempting.

@ATRguy I own all PMDG aircrafts for MSFS. Except for the 737-600/700/900, the rest are in my hangar. And I have flown 777, and I am saying it's a great addon, but for me systems and dynamics are a priority. And somehow I am not feeling it the same way I felt other aircrafts in XP11/12. I am quite invested in both MSFS and XP. And nothing stops me from investing some more in P3D, I guess.

I own MSFS2020 and XP11/12 and have a ton of addons for both.

This is great news! I like how P3Dv5 looks (with Orbx and REX, at least). I like PMDG's graphics for 777-747, though you can definitely see how they perfected it with 748 expansion. If nothing changes and stops these addons from working, then I assume you can safely say, that you have simulation experience for life.

Is there any history of LM breaking addons after updating P3D? I am afraid with no support for their P3D addons from PMDG, if this happens again, I''ll be screwed, like many others.

I heard they removed their P3D addons because keeping them sold on their website cost them more than they were selling. But this might not also be true. I think this is all in their business model. I think they are legacy addons now.

AS P3D, REX (not sure if it's superior to ASCA), not going to fly VFR (fly in MSFS), ChasePlane.

They are still available at Aerosoft. I am almost 40 and unfortunately, I missed the days when P3D was popular, but I think today it matured and is a stable trouble-free (hopefully) experience. I went with XP11. But know having a lot more experience in "simming" I can say I am not feeling it with MSFS, especially because I am very much into study-level addons. Fenix, PMDG, iFly - all great, but for some reason I'm not feeling the same.

I like the visuals of MSFS, but for some reason the model all look kind of toyish. Maybe this is something, that camera does to the look of it, I am not sure. In P3D and XP planes do look like real big jets.

Buying Prepar3D v5 in pre-2025
Good day, everyone! I know that such a topic appears every year and several times a year, so please do not judge harshly. Time goes forward and everything is rapidly changing and developing. The essence of the issue is as follows - I want to buy PMDG 747 with an add-on and 777 with an add-on and Prepar3D v5, since officially there will be no support for PMDG for v6. Based on what I saw and read on the Internet, I believe that the PMDGs for P3D were of higher quality than they are now in MSFS, although they are also of very high quality in MSFS. I'll jump right ahead and say that there are also ASP3D, REX, ChasePlane and Orbx on the lists for purchase, but this is gradual. I would like to hear the opinions of P3D and PMDG users. 1. Are PMDG 747 and 777 really so good that I should spend about $300 considering that I'm willing to go for it? 2. Is it worth entering Prepar3D v5 now in the run-up to 2025? The decision, of course, is mine, but I will be grateful for your opinions.
