Hello, everyone.
As of X-Plane 10.50, the global winds are projected using file "global_winds.grib". The file includes u-component and v-component of winds at altitudes 10K and 34K feet. Does anyone know how winds are interpolated between these two altitudes? Something like:
y=y1+((x-x1)*((y2-y1)/(x2-x1)))
Or there is another algorithm?
Are winds extrapolated below 10K and above 34K feet?
I also noticed that X-Plane 11 does not include file "winds.rwx" anymore. That file included temperatures at various altitudes. How is temperature at an altitude now projected in X-Plane 11 without this file in US and outside of US?
Thank you so much in advance!
