I have had no problems whatsoever, load times are very fast.If you do go this route make sure you set the block size to 256Kb.With the Promise driver/setup one can set the priority for reads or writes, of course reads are more beneficial for MS FS's.In retrospect I should have installed 2 GB's of RAM. On some occasions using real weather I get a slight hiccup from time to time. I think the extra RAM would help. When I build a new system my HD's are coming with me to the new machine!

>Is the difference between Ultra DMA IDE disks and SATA disks>worth the price of buying new disks. I have two 80gb disks>now. It seems that SATA and IDE/PATA drives are very similar in price, so the performance would have to be better than the cost of fully replacing your disks, and I do not think that is a worthwhile investment from a performance standpoint. If you take a 7200 RPM drive IDE and stacked it up against an SATA drive, the differences would not be worth the money spent. The next time you purchase new drives for extra space, however, definately go with SATA! (Or, as the above poster mentions, if you decide to go with a 10,000 RPM drive as a performance upgrade, go SATA as well).-Greg
